You couldn't be blamed for looking at Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 and flashing back to its 2005 predecessor. The sequel carries the same crisp, slightly jagged re-creations of the series' trademark superdeformed characters and original courses, and the similar menus, fonts, and HUD certainly don't give Open Tee 2 much of a distinctive visual advantage. Even the locations may seem familiar, with a handful of the 12 included courses carried over from previous games.
However, Hot Shots Golf has always offered a bit of a contradiction between what you see and what you get; the wacky caddies and powered-up clubs belie the seriously sharp simulation at the long-running series' foundation. With that in mind, does the familiar presentation in Open Tee 2 hide a host of gameplay improvements and innovations?
