Cherry Power-Up in Super Mario 3D World was originally a programming mistake

Nintendo has revealed that the new cherry power up in Super Mario 3D World, the item that allows dozens of characters to be controlled on screen, was actually a mistake by one of their staff members but they liked it so much it stuck. (Super Mario 3D World, Wii U)

Glad they kept it! One of the most awesome new power ups in the series. There were cherries in Super Mario Bros. 2 now that I remember but not this effect. Nice throwback. I can vision a cherry in a future Mario Kart.

Glad I'm not the only one who remembered SMB2 when I saw this.XD
Related; the characters in this game have much the same abilities they did back in SMB2, as well.
Mario's the all-arounder, Luigi is better at jumping, Peach can float for a limited time, and Toad's really really fast.
Glad they put Rosalina in, though. That was an unexpected treat. She might be a good character to play as for the sake of challenge.

That's pretty awesome.

A perfect example of turning what would have been a failure into a rousing success.
It's this kind of thing that proves Nintendo's worth as a developer.

Epic game on the way. I am going to buy Mario Party Island Tour and Link Between Worlds for the 3DS too, so Nintendo raping my sphincter right now.
