Every so often, controversy will pop up on the Internet surrounding games journalists and their reviews, often peppered with words like “bought” and “biased.”
Good read, but even with all that. It's a matter of one's still a opinion. "Review copies are not just “free games,” and they’re not really treated as such. Reviews, for publishers, are a way of getting positive attention on their products." I think this story has come about because of all the negative attention games are getting. Even the consoles themselves are getting. That and you have all your bedroom journalist posting their thoughts. At times it all looks like a witch hunt. Then you've got journalist at the same company saying the game is damn awesome! Then come review time some guy no body knows does it and it's a meh score. I always always tell people/gamers rent it if you are not sure. But at least try it yourself. Because chances are you will be the opposite of others. I have come across many great games this way over the years.
butt-hurt fan-boys never like the truth. That's why i love GameSpot reviews.
