Knack review: 32-bit hero (Joystiq)

Knack is a sentient golem magically drawn together from shiny bits, baubles and two thick eyebrows. Each part of Knack's body, whether it's a hand, leg or his bell-shaped head, is made out of mined relics, which in his world are also used to power cartoonish cars, airplanes and generators. A real-world equivalent to Knack and his physical composition, then, would be a creature made entirely of some other combustible, unearthed fuel – like coal. This should give you some idea as to what kind of message this PS4 game will send as a Christmas gift.

Irishguy951776d ago

Average? The reviews suggest its terrible

XB1_PS41776d ago

Uhm, I guess more than half of the reviews are troll reviews then.

I played it. It doesn't scream next gen in graphics but i thought is was fun. Im getting it.

nope1111776d ago

Lol complete opposite here. Thought it was very pretty, but extremely dull and unfun.

same if visual all it got going for then it not worth it but if they did better on gameplay then it would be

I'm interested in this game mainly to play with my daughter, but none of the reviews I've seen mention anything about playing it with kids. The games that interest and are good to a kid are vastly different than what entertain a full grown man (especially one who writes video game reviews for a living. My daughter can't stop playing games that are supposedly awful based on review scores).
Anyone know if there's a review out there that takes a kid playing it into account?

badz1491776d ago

I don't know if it's a game suitable for kids. sure it looks like Pixar all over the place but from all the previews, 1 thing is for sure, this game is HARD!

ruefrak1776d ago

Well from everything I've read, it's a game designed for kids if you play on easy. It's why the controls were designed to be simple, and why the co-op mode is the way it is.
I'm getting it anyway, just was curious if there were any reviews that highlighted this aspect.

fenome1775d ago

The easy setting is meant specifically for children. They even made a prototype of the controller that was big so they could tell what it felt like when an 8 year old was holding it while playing. This is a game that's meant to be played with you and your children. I don't have any kids, but I'm still getting it. I don't care what anyone says, this is a breath of fresh air to me

Ketzicorn1776d ago

It has a co-op mode that you can play alongside your daughter with. The games different difficulty levels will adjust to the level of player pretty well. Having actually played it I found it to be pretty fun.

Ketzicorn1776d ago

Check out the Rev3 video review they talk a little about co-op

Zoo Tycoon. If I had a daughter she'd want Zoo Tycoon. Probably. I don't have a daughter, I have too sons. They want Zoo Tycoon.

ruefrak1775d ago

As a guy, I don't get girls. I thought my daughter would love the zoo games, but she could care less. She likes characters (Monster High or Mickey Mouse games) or she likes games with a catch... like she likes playing Infamous just to keep climbing buildings and falling.
I'm not planning on picking up an Xbox, so we'll see what PS gets.

Volkama1775d ago

Fair enough :) Perhaps you know your kid better than I do. Who'd have thunk?

My boys are generally easy to understand. They like physics-based puzzles, football games, and anything they can play with Daddy. It's a good life.
