Kickstarter project for 3d Cube 360-Chess

Chess is a game that has been perfected by 1500 year old tradition. Will chess players even consider looking at another approach? The creators of Spheroku™ (www.spheroku.com) mobile game which wraps sudoku on a sphere are seeking support for their new Kicksarter project that would make Chess a 3-dimensional, 360 degree gaming experience.

The story is too old to be commented.

I can already feel my Brain starting to BLEED!

Do you know how long a single game of this would last? like forever.

3D Chess is not entertainment, it's Torture!

Actually, sometimes the results can surprise you... This project is very much a "thought experiment" that if implemented could give quite managable results -- A game we can actually manage quite well in our brains. Even though it is implemented in 3D space, the game still takes palace on a surface... Which makes the options identical to 2d chess, as far as a movement of each figure is concerned. So this reduces the complexity quite a bit as compared to true 3d chess where every figure could move in in X & Y, but also Z. In 360-chess the figure movement is still only in X & Y -- it is the "chessboard" itself that is warped in Z.

If Spheroku could be any measure of what happens when those kinds of assumptions meet reality, the game is not really all that much more difficult than the standard 2d implementation. Spheroku is something you can try now (even without downloading the app on your mobile). There is an online demo on www.speroku.com.

Spheroku should give you an idea if the 360-chess would be or would not be too difficult..
