I’m Slightly Worried About Killer Instinct

Sean Halliday of Pixel Gate writes:

''Killer Instinct is one of those games that carries a sense of nostalgia. It’s a game that entertained many during their youth but also stood out for its iconic announcer and ridiculous combos. It was often seen as a more fun alternative to already established beat ‘em ups, so when Killer Instinct 2013 (let’s call it that for the sake of reference) was revealed, the 90s child within me was excited, hyped, pumped…you get the idea.''

So this person has not played the game, but has raised such concerns just on looks? Wow. Any game can be a button masher for the casual, but takes time to master.

I don't get your gripe? isn't the whole point of showing off the game supposed to be people start to formulate a opinion?

Please elaborate.

I am a fighting vet and have been playing fighters since Karate Champ. I am a huge KI fan and I couldn't agree with you more.

KI is being thrown together for the X1. I have nothing but doubts about this game. They are piece mealing it just to get it out in time for the X1 launch. How else can anyone explain why this games has less characters and modes than the original had 20 years after the fact? Name one other current fighting game that has less than 16 characters that isn't a PSN or XBL game. I won't hold my breath.

Than again most of MS exclusives are being rushed to the market. It's not like it's a secret but some people just don't want to admit it. I like the new art direction with most of the characters but I am holding off final opinions until the game is completed in Fall of 2014.

Oh you can pound that disagree button but not one of you can counter what I wrote because it's all facts. Killer Instinct fans such as myself have been pleading for a KI reboot since MS acquired Rare and all we got in return was crickets.

Now here they are selecting a company less than a year out from the 3rd console launch to have a developer with no fighting background reboot a fan favorite from the 90's in the matter of months. But yeah guys, I'm full of it. This game isn't being rushed. Than where is a video of all 8 (quick pause for laughter) characters in action? Exactly. We are a week away from the launch of the XBOX ONE and we have still yet to see all 8 characters in action or a complete list of the options, features and modes that will be available at launch. SMH

BTW this game is just a little over 3 gigs. 3 GIGS! Let that sink in when the average next gen game weights in at an average of 30 gigs. Tell me again how this is a true next generation game. Yeah I thought so.

Well I have been playing the game for a few months now and I will say that it is AWESOME!! I am not sure what you meant by it not being entertaining to watch as whenever I see it being played, there is always a crowd of people around asking questions about the game. I randomly go to the MS store in my city, and see these crowds EVERY TIME.

Yes the games is very accessible and funny to watch two newbs go at it and pull of random combos, but a newb would not have a chance in hell at beating me if I got on the controller, and that is the beauty in what Double Helix has done.

I also think that the name of the studio is irrelevant, those guys have done an awesome job with the game and have been very humble in their approach to making this game a good return for KI

Don't be cowards, explain why you disagree with my statement.

First of all, this is a fighting game, not a story driven 3rd person action game, why does the gig amount matter??....chill.

I have been playing video games for a while as well and I am completely happy with the direction they are going, however I am not happy with the amount of characters available at launch.

You are correct, the game is being rushed, however mechanically the games does not feel rushed at all, everything is as smooth as butter, the effects are great, the gameplay is fun, and it is just so pretty to look at, especially Thunders stage. I cannot cure your skepticism all I can say is just play the game first, I had my doubts as well, but this game has sold most of my friends into next gen, as we have had epic battles at the MS event that was here.

Oh and just because Double Helix is making the game, doesn't mean that the game is gonna suck. They put a lot of time and effort into making this game right for us....and so far everyone who has played the game, enjoys it.

EDIT: ok...have you all noticed that everyone who has played the game loves it, and has nothing but good things to say about the game? All of the skepticism is coming from people who have not actually played

Ive played over eight hours. NO WORRIES. The game is made VERY well. One of my most anticipated titles for mext gen. Oh and the graphics are wow. Especially glacius

Belking1710d ago (Edited 1710d ago )

KI is solid. It's has had more hands on play time and demos than any next gen launch game.

My_Name_BTW_Is_Dante1710d ago

Sony fanboys are just jealous that this is an Xbox One exclusive. Meanwhile PS4 really doesn't have anything but a bunch of shooters, last-gen games, and free to play shovelware.

Sitdown1710d ago

Injustice is a launch title.

Omegasyde1710d ago

I'll play your game...

Injustice Ultimate Edition is day 1 on Ps4....

and yes, it came out before on current gen systems.

And no, it's not available on Xbox 1.

Tit for Tat.

Langkasuka1710d ago

"Just let it happen, it'll be over soon." :>

If you're implying the writer is a fan boy you couldn't be further away from the truth if you tried.

Your name is Pixelgate and you joined 15 days ago. That speaks volumes about your motives and credibility.
