Tin Salamunic: The Sniper Elite games can get away with removing the narrative filling and strictly focusing on gameplay. It’s never really been about the World War II conflict or what it means to be a solider behind enemy lines; the game’s allure was in the extravagant X-Ray cam and watching Nazis’ insides burst in ridiculous slow motion. Yes, it’s a guilty pleasure kind of game. Having recognized this, Rebellion brought us the exhilarating Nazi Zombie Army spin-off last year, solely emphasizing the shooting mechanics and cooperative gameplay. Its undead themed campaigned offered far more thrills and gore than Call of Duty’s shallow Zombie mode, and while it didn’t necessary move the Sniper Elite franchise forward in terms of innovation, it served as a welcoming distraction for the series’ devotees. While there’s still no word on the official sequel, we once again have another exciting standalone expansion to keep us occupied in the meantime.
