Simon Says: Gaming Franchises That Shouldn't Continue

GameNTrain author Simon Marshal writes: With the future of console gaming only a few weeks away, it’s great to look back and reflect on games which have stood out from the rest and defined a generation. As well as reflecting on the good side, you need to have a think about what is in store for the future of the PS4 and Xbox One. Everyone will be looking forward to new Halo, God of War and Destiny. Combining both good and bad memories from the PS3 and Xbox 360 generation, I believe that these games should not be re-released nor have direct sequels produced for the next-generation consoles. (Culture, Dead Space, Industry, Resident Evil, The Last Of Us)

Doesn't a game need to have more than 1 installment to be a "franchise"?... *Points at The Last of Us*

And on that note. BRING ON MORE THE LAST OF US!

I'm the unpopular opinion with games after RE4. I personally think RE4 is just as bad as RE5 and RE6. I'm glad they improved the mechanics, but they took everything out that made Resident Evil...Resident Evil. Lacking atmosphere, way too easy puzzles, lacks player thinking, ammo-a-plenty, and hoards and hoards of enemies.

Yep. I do miss the days where two zombie-dogs jumping through windows in a narrow hallway was all you needed to be scared sh*tless.

I'm of the same opinion as well. RE4 really did something to the series, and it's not all that great. I'm not sure how The Evil Within will turn out, but i hope it's not doing the same mistakes.

Anything that would get no benefits from getting a sequel, or make any sense. For me those games are:

DMC -original not reboot-
GOW -god of war- it ended too damn good in GOW3. I don't want that ruined.
Uncharted -we don't want the crystal skulls...
RE -as is a reboot would do well.-
Halo -they simply should've continued master chiefs story rather then have ODST because now it's just too much-

That's just my opinion. There are some more games but i can't really think of any others right now.

I'd say a proper DMC would still work, because there are unexplored sides of the story. Not the reboot, but the actual DMC we know.

Either way, it boils down to Capcom not doing a half job with the game.

Something like Dead Space has lost its way, and it's mainly due to pursuing a totally different audience.

Almost forgot about dead space. But the issue with DMC is how poorly they made dante character in DMC4 and how bad they brought in nero to the series. Aside from that they made him vergil's son, if the book is cannon.

The question would be. What point would they get out of making more dante games? what would be the point of more games period?

Now a sparda game would be a different story.
