IGN- FIFA 14 PlayStation 4 Review

IGN:FIFA 14 isn’t a leap into the future of the series; it has a lot in common with the version of FIFA 14 that's already out. There are real flashes of potential, though, and hints at where it may go in the future – the sheer variety of animation, cognisant players, more palpable atmosphere – but what FIFA 14 on next-gen consoles does right now is add an impressive visual layer to an already brilliant sports game.

The story is too old to be commented.

EA doesn't add any gameplay improvements for the next gen versions just updates the graphics.

... and the're even not so much "upgraded"... I've seen lots of gameplays and I don't feel like I'm watching a next-gen-visuals game

NYC_Gamer906d ago

I won't spend a dime on any EA sports games since they are so lazy when it comes to improvements

The real nextgen game, or rather, the one and only nextgen title out there in my opinion is NBA2k14.

The improvements are just amazing and the level of detail and new things in the engine is aweinspiring. They have a 5 minute long video on their youtube channel where they go over all the improvements and why it's a true nextgen title.

Unlike EA, some companies out there actually do innovate and really do care about nextgen technology.

For those who don't care about improving visuals, improving gameplay, improving detail, improving immersion, improving realism... go and play a PS3 or 360. There are hundreds of titles for you to enjoy.

For us nextgen gamers and all who pay up $400-500 for nextgen console, we deserve nextgen experiences.

I tankyou 2kSports, especially Visual Concepts for pouring your soul into this project and taking your time to really create a nextgen experience. Killzone is not my first pick for nextgen, Knack isn't either nor is Forza Motorsport 5.. or Fifa 14. It's NBA2k14. That's the only nextgen title i would stand in line for.

EA you need to fix your shit, cause i will never buy another title from your company if you keep selling games that are basically copies except for the title.

while i agree 2k14 didnt change gameplay for their title either

They have a 5 minute long video where they go through all the changes for the nextgen version. New gameplay mechanics is also there through their new eco motion engine.

sigfredod906d ago

the graphics on fifa 14 on next gen are very disappointing.

This is the most disapointing looking next gen sports game.

I'll be the one in favour of EA, then. Seriously, I'm a big FIFA fan and even I expected EA to just cash in with a next-gen port (look at Road to the World Cup on 360 for reference) but I've played it a couple of times on the Xbox One now and I'm honestly amazed by how good it feels. The biometric whatevers and elite-gen-this-and-that might seem like buzzwords (well, they are) but in gameplay these slight changes make a huge impact. The next-gen versions of FIFA 14 feel, look, and are all over better than the versions out already.

I do feel for people who have picked up FIFA 14 on 360, PS3, and PC as they have got the shit end of the stick, but don't let that detract from the PS4 and Xbox One versions which are honestly really, really great.

Even the graphics, which I admit look like crap in just about every video online (trust me, I've looked for a decent one to prove my point) but in person look buttery smooth. It's not a huge graphical leap, obviously, as FIFA has always been a bit wooden in that department in the first place, let alone in a cross-gen title. Yet, like most of the game, it's the subtle tweaks that have a far greater impact than you'd imagine. The grass looks like grass, the crowd is actually a crowd, and the 1000+ new animations looks amazing in motion.

Before you right this off as a "Fuck EA", if you're a fan of the series I implore you to at least give it a go.
