Rare isn't bothered by hardcore cynicism about Kinect - "we'll keep pushing it, advancing it"

Rare has plenty of ideas for games that don't rely on Kinect, some of them possibly derived from its own back catalogue, but Kinect Sports Rivals executive producer Danny Isaac says that the studio will remain "closely linked to that technology" for the foreseeable future. (Kinect Sports Rivals, Rare, Xbox One)

Viva Pinata using Kinect (and maybe SmartGlass) seems incredibly obvious to me. At the very least, they could just re-release the old games with a bit of polish and a Kinect control scheme, for an appropriately budget price.

Appropriately budget price? what century you living in ha it'll be a "Double HD" remake with a few extra additions at the same price

All they have to do is create things that people want to play. Also, just because a game is fun or entertaining doesn't mean it will sell a million copies. Just try to develop the best content you can, and people seeking that contents will find your products.

Microsoft never acknowledged the possibility that maybe Kinect doesn't appeal to everyone. Just like shooters, RPG, Sports, and sims don't appeal to everyone either.

Rare needs to find its Market for Kinect. Microsoft wants that market to be everyone, but that isn't even logical.

That's okay Rare, you are dead to most of your fans over 10 year now. Kinect who?

Its inconceivable to me that you would honestly believe that.

Controller, TV, Game, Chair/bed >>>>everything.

One guy's testimony =/= everybody at Rare's view on the matter.

did you even read the article? anyway thats your opinion and so you know besides the stellar looking kinect sports rivals rare has none kinect titles in the works and adding kinect functionality is a plus, one which all xbx gamers will enjoy i.e bf4, dr3 , ac4 but then again you aint even getting an xbx one or the kinect so why does it bother you so much?

It doesn't but apparently it bothers you greatly. Must have struck a nerve, teehee. i just don't like people lying through their teeth. MS has done nothing to convince people that they need Kinect except the sentence "shut the eff up!"

Anyway, enjoy Kinect's killer app, Ryse.

Oh wait :p

Not surprising. Rare is now fully comprised of Microshills. This is not the Rare from the old day.

I find this horribly depressing.

wow rare you sure have become a pu**y whipped version of yourself, and you actually want o continue making crap games?

As much as I like the Rare of old from the N64 days, not all their games were gold. They didn't do stinkers either but Banjo for example despite obviously being stellar visually and an all round excellent example of a fun solid game, it wasn't an astonishing game actually. Same too with my personal fave Jet Force Gemini which I enjoy immensely yet know isn't an incredible game. Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing better examples of triple A from them. Blast corps also worth a mention

Some people bang on that the Rare of old was pure gold every time and that's nonsense. Always very highly polished games but only a few were genuinely fantastic

I wouldn't worry about the vocal minority on sites like this. My family and I will keep enjoying rare's new games
Bigpappy  +   405d ago
There you go. My family love the new Rare also. Kinect sports is a huge favorite. My daughter is a viva piñata addict too, but she is away at college so no time for piñata farming.

Rare are a shadow of Rare and a faint shadow of Ultimate Play the Game.
There's always some idiots to love crap and they are often large in number.
