Watch out PS4, the PS3 is Still Capable of Amazing Feats

Gameranx: "Here's Gran Turismo 5 running on multiple PS3 boxes and being streamed through 5 large displays." (Gran Turismo 5, PS3)

MultiConsoleGamer  +   599d ago
I have a feeling the PS3 is going to be with us for many years to come.
Shadow Haze501  +   599d ago
PS3 is still one heck of a console. Also all the games for it are just enough to keep you playing for generations to come.
MazzingerZ  +   599d ago
I still have at least 8 games I need to play before sending in to retirement as my main console, my girls will get it instead, they are now showing interest and I have tons of games there for them, a hell of an investment the PS3 was

Soon I will only game on PS4 but PS3 will still be used at home, pretty awesome.

Yeah but with Forza you can.. Only play single screen..
Oner  +   599d ago
While I in no way care for Forza I have to factually clarify your comment. If I remember correctly Forza 2,3 & 4 supported multi-screen. Now as for Forza 5, I haven't heard a single thing that it can do the same.

Forza 5 doesn't support triple panels.

That's why I'm passing on the XBOX ONE since Forza 5 is the only game I would want at launch. 5 is a shell of itself compared to previous versions. Less than half the cars of 4, less tracks than 4, no triple panel support and the only wheel ready for launch doesn't have a clutch pedal or shifter. Yet Turn 10 pounds their chest over it being 1080p 60fps. It should be, it's basically half the game 4 was / is and the graphics are a nice bump but not a significant jump.

I will be playing GT6 in triple panel glory.
Can't wait.

Brutallyhonest - oh, so you have a triple panel setup AND 3 ps3s hooked up to it? And I assume 3 copies of GT6 as well (unless it only requires 1)?

I don't see how that's so hard to believe, I myself have 3 PS3's, 3 Screens and a Sim Rig (Obutto)...I just need GT6 ~ 1 or 3 copies don't actually matter.

I won't be selling my PS3 any time, or ever for that matter. I'll keep it just like I kept my PS1 and PS2 around.
blakstarz  +   599d ago
Remember, Sony said the PS3 has a 10 year lifespan and they proved it. Its not going anywhere, look how long the PS2 lasted.

dat Cell!
GT6 is looking pretty amazing running on 7 year old tech.

(ps. yea I know this is a GT5 vid just saying..)
mayberry  +   599d ago
I understand Sony's reasoning for wanting to launch the ps4 on par with the xbone, but I don't need a new console. The ps3 is shining right now. For financial reasons, I understand. Another negative thing to come out of this gen, imho.
jordan8445  +   599d ago
That looks unintuitive.
Boody-Bandit  +   598d ago
Obviously you have never played a game on multiple screens. The level of immersion on multi panels displays is hard to even put into words. It's THAT great! There is nothing like. The only thing that adds to that experience more while doing so is being on a motion activated rig with tactile feedback.

They could have released PS3.5 with a couple of gigs of RAM instead of PS4, and still have given the big 'ol XBone a run for its money. An exaggeration? Yes, but the point is GT6 is doing things that next gen Forza seems unable to.
We may have felt some dissapointment that PS4 is missing a new 'Super Cell B.E+', but it will be a great machine. The things Polyphony shall be able to deliver in a couple of years will truly defy belief.

Incidently, have you seen the latest Project Cars videos? They are impressive. As is the fact that current GT looks as good in many areas. Where P.C beats GT is water and weather effects, smoke and dust, flaming exhausts, and the way rubber and carbon fibre realistically litters the track. I also like the bounce and movement of the vehicles on their suspension in Project cars.
General lighting, and textures in the foreground and background seem to be on a par, and of course I have No knowledge of P.C's handling.
Next gen I want GT to lay rubber down on the track-rubber marbles ect.

(I also know this is about GT5, but just saying).

What is GT6 doing that Forza 5 isn't? Weather and night racing? Ok, but then again, it's not 1920x1080 and it's not a locked 60fps either, and reportedly drops a large amount of frames when things get hectic. And it's the result of squeezing every drop of power from a 7 year old machine and the learning period that came with it. Forza is a launch game and in 7 years the next Forza will blow Forza 5 out of the water, just like Forza 4 did to Forza 2, on the same hardware...

Are you saying that a slightly improved GT6 running on PS4 would not surpass Forza 5?
O.k, then. You need to see a proper next gen Gran Turismo as much as I do. Because I am a fan, and you are not seeing what I'm seeing right now on PS3.

(No. I don't have physical copy of GT6 yet, but y,know.)

I use triple panels (46" micro bezel displays).
The level of immersion is incredible with games that support multiple screens.
C-H-E-F  +   598d ago
ehh ehh :( the envy. I love using multi-screens when i'm programming but my screens are small 26" (dual). yup pathetic lol

-my gaming tv is a 65" bravia have one upstairs and downstairs. I need a room dedicated for gaming so I can have multiscreens without the complaints coughgfcough hahahaha.

65" is huge.

At least you're not in my boat. My wife indulges me just to get me out of her hair. The basement is all mine. Gym, theater and game room. She only comes down for the occasional movie in the theater. Other than that it's 99% mine.

She calls it the dungeon.
I call it Nirvana.

I made a huge error and sold my PS3 thinking the PS4 would do all the PS3 can do and more.
