Joystiq - Dead Rising 3 and the stuttering car conundrum

Mobility has always been an issue with the Dead Rising games.

No entry in the series until Dead Rising 3, the upcoming Xbox One launch game, has created a big enough sandbox for vehicles to be a crucial component of the experience. There have been cars before, but their use was limited by confined spaces and the lack of a real street system. (Dead Rising 3, Xbox One)

Well who would of thought that there would be frame rate issues in an exclusive xbone game running at 720p with 30fps.

I guess frame rates dont matter tho.
thorstein  +   705d ago
Didn't even need the sarcasm tags! Dying Light might be a great alternative (and it is available on both systems).
rdgneoz3  +   705d ago
Still skeptical about Dying Light. I want to believe it'll be good, but the devs behind it did make Dead Island and that was not the smoothest (stable) game around.

this is what happens when M$ panics and decides to release the xbox sooner to compete with the PS4, the games simply aren't ready...
MRMagoo123  +   705d ago
by the sounds of the bottlenecks and the fact the xbone wont be any good when games start using gpu compute, it wont get any better for MS in the near or far future lol.

Damn still frame rate problems n its only 720p n 30 fps
SpiralTear  +   705d ago
I know it's going to be the beginning of a brand new generation of gaming, but seeing a low frame rate in a 720p/30fps game isn't representing the new tech in the generation very well.
matrixman92  +   705d ago
if this game really was a current gen game being ported to next gen, that kind of makes it even worse
Chaostar  +   705d ago
I'm not the kind of guy who expects next gen games to all be 1080p 60fps but being unable to maintain a solid 30fps at 720p should be the worst case scenario.

DR3 was on my list of reasons to buy an Xbone next year but now it's looking like I need more announcements. Don't disappoint me MS I like owning all consoles.

Low fps is gpu and ram problem.

It cannot load in the textures quick enough through the low bandwidth.

Another honest preview that makes the IGN previews look suspicious
MRMagoo123  +   705d ago
IGN is a joke lol , i can bet they will nit pick every thing they can find on the ps4 tho, arent they the ones that said ratchet and clank lost points for too much variety ?
pyramidshead  +   705d ago
Dear me... Thought they had it locked?
Hicken  +   705d ago
They'd like you to think that.

This is really bad damn news. This is honestly getting embarrassing. How is this a exclusive game, next Gen, and release is 2 1/2 weeks away with problems like this? I can't stress my disappointment enough. I'm still getting it to go with my day one KI (which had it's own share of disappointments) but seriously. I've never had such an urge to cancel a system Preorder before and with every passing news day it's like I'm being kicked in the nuts for wanting to spend money. Is quality in a EXCLUSIVE too much to ask? This is your chance to show off the system with no gloves on. It's getting harder and harder to justify this Xbox One launch purchase. Please let some good news come in the coming days. I for one could use it.

Being a Sony diehard I understand how you feel. That was last Gen for me, it seemed like nothing but bad news for ps3 every time I got online. But don't lose hope for your system things got much better for ps3 and they probably will for Xbox one as well.
Deathdeliverer  +   705d ago
Don't get me wrong, I'm getting a PS4 day one also. Picked up Killzone today. It's just that I always get all the systems and Microsoft is telling me not to get theirs.
tiremfej  +   705d ago
@ lpgs5000 Thank you for the rational comment. It's nice to know that some people still understand things.

I completely get it, it's okay to prefer one console over the other no matter the reason. I think it's ridiculous how everyone attacks one another over their console preference. We are all gamers here and all the hate is unnecessary. Both consoles have things to make the other side jealous and if anyone says otherwise they are butthurt

Liking a console is one thing. Loving a console is a whole other concept I ditched years ago. I'm well beyond those years.

That being said I find it infinitely entertaining reading some of the replies on here, replies from both sides of the fence. PS4 is more powerful. I get it. Xbox does more out of the box. I get that.

When it is all said and done, and PS4 people are on their PS4's and Xbox'ers are on their Xbox Ones...the dust will settle.

I'm buying a Xbox One I have no intention of ever getting a PS4. I honestly for my tastes want a system that does it all out of the box and will integrate with the whole Windows eco-system. My phone, Tablet, Ultrabook, Desktop, and soon the Xbox will work perfectly.

Sony doesn't offer that. Will I miss some of the greater resolutions? Honestly, I don't know, I've never played a 1080p game. I'm not trying to be a "blind" gamer, if I haven't experienced it, will I truly miss out? Maybe. Maybe not, time will tell and to each their own.

Lol, to all the Xbots touting the XBone as thd best thing since sliced breadjust a couple months ago. Seems to me like the closer the "One" gets to launch the more problems come to light. All the rumors came true and its just getting worse.

720p and a locked steady 30fps should be the bare minimum for a next gen game. I'm not one of these guys that keep raging saying everything has to be 1080p 60fps to be a good game but if this game is not doing that, then its not really doing the bare minimum.

Damn, I just read above Chaostar star said almost exactly the same thing and I look like a plagiarist. Oh well, that just goes to show other gamer besides me think the same thing. You wouldnt except under 720p on next gen, you shouldnt except under 30fps either.

I just say at least give me one or the other. 1080p and 30fps or 720p and 60fps. Games like KI should do both.
bleedsoe9mm  +   705d ago
If you launch a game and it doesn't need a day 1 patch to fix it , your not trying hard enough to innovate .
memots  +   705d ago
I tough that driveClub was apparently called bad because it's 1080p and 30fps , yeah I guess that now we will get article saying frame per second don't matter. It matters if it stays at 30 whitout dip or visible stutter.
JuniorCE  +   705d ago
That's crazy for a next gen system... Not only that... DR3 is considered a first party studio game... only developed for the xbone...
