Game Focus reports: "Nintendo of America's president Reggie Fils-Aime has affirmed that his North American office is constantly hassling the firm's Japanese HQ for more Wii stock – reminding them of "missed opportunities".
It doesn't take a genius to figure out Nintendo are holding back Wiis,a company valued at 50 billion dollars+ can't produce enough video game consoles?Bullcrap. All their doing is playing with the demand-supply chain.
Ive been saying it since last year summer. There is no way a company can have a full year of shortages. Especially when you consider the proponents needed to make a wii. Its not like they need a billion super CELL 2 processors. The wii uses Gamecube technology. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE.
I know they have said they are manufacturing Wiis at an unprecedented rate, like 1.2 million a month, and they still can't meet demand. But it really does seem like they are using supply constraint to keep demand from waning in the face of the lack of quality titles.
I imagine that they don't want to spend a lot of capital ramping up production only to see demand decrease as this would likely have a negative affect on their bottom line. As things stand now they are making a killing so they may not have any real financial motivation to ensure that store shelves are stocked.
This is what I've been saying ever since the Wii "shortage" started! This isn't the fact that they can't keep up with production, this shortage is to increase demand! Who remembers the great memory card shortage when the PS2 first came out?

oh great another one of these stories. Honestly what's up with the week? Did everyone take their 'I don't like the Wiis success' pills or something?
If I could walk into any store right now and buy one, I would.
But since you pretty much have to go on a scavenger hunt for one, no thanks. I've been trying to get one, on and off, for a few months now.
So yes, there are probably thousands of missed oppurtunities every day here in the states.
DELIBERATELY.

Every time I see him he's got that rapist smug look on his face.
