Checkpoint Games Review: Beyond Two Souls Review: Lion in a cage

David Cage is one of those people who, after the release of Heavy Rain his last game, became quite the polarizing figure in the industry. A huge part of this is due to criticism about whether or not Heavy Rain is even a game, with many people calling it a glorified movie. The other reason is that David Cage is one of those developers who loves his high quality graphics. He goes so far as to imply that high quality graphics are required to tell emotional stories. So of course, David Cage has earned the ire of many a gamer and game critic. In the midst of this comes Beyond: Two Souls. On paper Beyond is everything people don’t like about Cage’s games, and yet against all odds, is a good game. (Beyond: Two Souls, PS3) 7/10
