Opinion: Games With (Fool's) Gold

OXM - "Microsoft recently revealed plans to extend its “Games with Gold” promotion (the free-games-with-paid-subscript ion program) into 2014. But given what we've seen so far, I don't think I would have mourned the program's conclusion." (Culture, Xbox 360, Xbox LIVE)

People crying because they are getting free games. Ahh the internet...never lets me down.

Ive gotten around 8-10 games that I didn't have with Games for Gold for free. Im not complaining at all. That would have easily paid for a year of Live Gold.

it seems that MS are giving away games that are completely dead in sales and have stopped benefiting from, just so they can sell some DLC and suck every last penny out of its long time dedicated fans. deception at its finest.

ouch the title of that article really stings as much as if i found out i was being taken advantage of. why gozer, Whyyy.

as they say: the truth shall set you free. Genuinely free that is. like sony's kind of free, not MS's free. to put it in an analogy...

I never subscribed to Gold when I had a 360, but the Games for Gold is a sweetening of the deal. Let's just say that each company has something they are better at than the other... perhaps the next-gen will see a little closer competition.

So it's okay for Sony to slowly build PSN up to xbox live level. Give them time, they said. But Microsoft isn't afforded the same luxury?

I have free games on my HDD. That I can keep forever. I'm not complaining.

MS has been making billions off of XBLG over these years, yes BILLIONS with a B. They should have no difficulty coming out the gate with GOOD games aren't 5-6 years old.

Why should we "give them time" when they've been reaping benefits far longer and at excessively higher amounts than Sony?

I remember a report of MS claiming to have like 40 million gold subscribers. 40 mill x $50 = $2 billion.
This was in one year and doesn't take into accounts paying more when you buy less than a year, the $10 price hike, how few they were at in the beginning, their peak, or what they are at now. It's just general but it serves as a bare minimum proof that MS has made OVER $2 billion off Live Gold subscribers.

They have no excuse.

Microsoft can do no right. They turned from their "bad" policies, included a headset, have dedicated servers for every Xbox One game, secured Titanfall and extended the free games program forever. People just hate Microsoft and Xbox just because and will find anything to laugh at them about. Pretty said. We are living a dark age of gaming.
