‘Battlefield 4’ creative director discusses PS4 and Xbox One development similarities

DICE's Lars Gustavsson has talked a little bit about the similarities in terms of developing for the PS4 and Xbox One.

They already said it was the botched footage from Digital Foundry. All these sites are STILL using the footage from D.F

All we can do is take peoples word for it and Jack Frag among others (who make a living on Youtube on XBOX 360) have admitted that the PS4 version looks better.

I know thats why, i could care less that the X1 version runs at 720p but i just wish they could have pushed it further on the PS4 and had made it run at 1080/rock solid 60fps.

Speaking from the mindset of a graphic designer, and not a tech specifications buff, when you blow up an image the most you can do is double it's size and it would have some visual hiccups but nothing outrageous.

So the blurriness in the PS4 version would tell me that it's really a lower resolution natively then being led on. The blur effect would be used to cover up the hiccups to some degree.

But again, I speak only from the perspective of a graphic designer and not one that's knowledgeable about technical specs and tv resolutions.

1. X1 is profitable, not being sold at a loss whatsoever. That's their plan for as long as their able to stick to it.

2. They expect their current fans to follow them through thick or thin, ridicule, horrible ToS or anything else.

3. Kinect raises production cost. It's the same reason the Wii-U can't drop too far in price to where we (consumers) think it should be.

You guys are such idiots. I downloaded the uncompressed 1080p videos of both and they're identical. You're getting yourselves worked up over nothing. Seriously, get a life before you get a new console! 1080p upscaled looks like native 1080p. You can not see the difference. I played it on my 55 inch Sony 1080p TV. It is identical!

You're watching a compressed video. I have a 1080p Sony Bravia as well, and if you can't tell the difference between 720p up scaled and 1080p native you need your glasses changed. 720p was last gen, why are you settling for less? This is a next console we're talking about. Yes battlefield 4 is 720p on xbone, and 900p on PS4, but for that game it's still better and holds frames smoother. Everyone I know is going PS4. And it's PS4 day 1 for me. But if you're getting an xbone 720p lol, more power to you. This topic just isn't something you should be trying to justify for your purchase.

PS4 has higher frame-rate, higher resolution, Ambient Occlusion and more natural colors instead of crushed blacks for having the contrast so high.

I think gamers and developers have to admit that whats happening this gen is what was happening last gen microsofts console is holding back sonys console again ok i admit the shared memory pool of the PS3 didnt help but on paper both of sonys consoles has been more powerful.If microsoft is going to do that every gen they should get out of the market.But develpers wont admit that as money talks if microsoft gives enough money to make games on their systems then they will.The only time microsoft was more powerful than sony was with the original xbox and if they came out a little earlier then they may have been a force to be intimidated by.
