Top 10 Legend of Zelda Ghouls and Ghosts

In the spirit of the season, I’ll be paying tribute to ghosts of a more pixelated nature in the first of three weekly articles leading up to the release of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on November 22. The renowned series has no shortage of lovably ghoulish personalities who have spent years shuffling about the mortal world of Hyrule, waiting for their day in the spotlight.

I guess someone else you could add would be the flute boy from link to the past. Always felt sorry for him

Just a heads up, the Hero's Shade is confirmed to be the Ocarina of Time version of Link.

spaboolly3818d ago (Edited 3818d ago )

It was specified in the Hyrule Historia that he is a the spirit of the Hero of Time, and teaches Link his sword techniques because he regrets not being remembered. This article is just about the games... no need to get overly technical and confuse people who haven't read it. Besides, it gave me an excuse to throw in a little humor.

Xof3818d ago

Or, to put it another way, Hyrule Historia basically DENIED the fan-theory that the Hero's Shade was OoT Link.

Anyway, on topic, the only time I was ever genuinely "spooked" by something in a Zelda game... it was in Ikana Canyon. Just... that whole quarter of the game. So damned creepy.

spaboolly3818d ago

To Xof: I just looked it up to make sure I remembered right. I wouldn't say it denies the fan theories, but it does somewhat contradict later games. "The spirit of Link's ancestor, the Hero of Time, teaches him his secrets. Ever since returning to the Child Era, the swordsman has lamented the fact that he was not remembered as a hero."

And personally I think the creepiest things in any Zelda game are the Shadow Temple theme music and Dead Hand.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the anti-Breath of the Wild

Polygon: "To get back to the way Ocarina made us feel, it was necessary to reject almost everything about it."

Ocarina of Time changed my life forever, such a masterpiece

Zeldafan64114d ago

Hard to believe it's 25 years old already.

Cacabunga114d ago

The feeling this game gave me the first time i had my hands on it is indescribable.. i still get the chill from that day..
botw is like a spin off of the series.. it’s fun but with many flaws and the most important which is Zelda formula isn’t there..

FinalFantasyFanatic114d ago

I can't even remember how many times I played through OoT, I finished that game, and collected everything so many times.

Vits114d ago

I generally agree with the author here. However, if I had to point out a single game as the 'anti-Breath of the Wild,' that would be Majora's Mask. Pretty much everything in that game is interconnected, relies on something that the player must have done previously, is timed, and can be considered a puzzle in itself.

gold_drake114d ago

but still considered the best of the seties.

i would have liked botw to be more like ocarina.

franwex114d ago (Edited 114d ago )

25 years from today whatever Zelda is out people would too be looking fondly at Breath of the Wild.

Ah the more simple times of the 2020s.

It isn't...

Zelda: Ocarina of Time - A Legend 25 Years in the Making

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time debuted 25 years ago, forever changing the face of video games and becoming a legend of its own.

Number1TailzFan146d ago

I used a guide to beat part of it but some of the rest myself, still enjoyed it regardless. Too bad they didn't stick with this kind of gameplay for the rest of the series as I would prefer it over what they're doing now.

TheBrainZ146d ago

A definitive moment in video game history. Played it countless times, and Zelda was the best reason to own an N64.

FinalFantasyFanatic146d ago

I played through OoT so many times on the 64, then I bought it on the 3DS before the Eshop shut down. I wish we could have a Zelda collection like we did for Mario, I still can't believe that never happened.
