Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag Review | The Controller Online

Scott from The Controller Online writes: "We’re continually surprised by the rate at which Ubisoft seem to be able to produce Assassin’s Creed games but even after last Fall’s immense entry they’re back yet again with another ambitious effort. Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag is actually the sixth full console release in the series and bids farewell to Desmond, the long-time present day protagonist, in a favor of a new story. A story full of pirates. One that some may say is entering a market that is already saturated with Assassin’s Creed games. I say hoist the mainsail, run out the guns, and let’s see if there’s any treasure left buried in the Animus." (Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, PC, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360) 9.5/10

Clearly AC is back. Seeing a lot of outstanding scores and reviews! Man, the PS4 and this game cannot get here soon enough!

Im still going to rent it and be weary, Assassins Creed 3 got the same scores and that was a huge let down for me personally. The visuals look awesome and the setting is ideal but i don't want to get duped again by lacklustre missions and a disappointing story. But who knows, if i like the look of the story then ill be more than happy to buy it as i know i will get my moneys worth with an open world game.

If the story has more focus and less tedious missions then im all for it, but from the reviews ive read its a little too much pirate and not enough Assassin, which would be fine for a game that wasn't called ASSASSINS creed.

Yeah, reminds me of GTAIV. Lots of prefect scores and man. bomb. But given the amount of time and research I've put into this game. Just like I called RDR many months before it came out. This game is going to be damn good!

Btw, still playing GTAV online.... just seems empty, repetitive now. lol.

Maybe it's just the way that those reviewers chose to play the game? Look at it this way. If I review a game and play 90% at sea then people will think the whole game is at sea. I could just as easily spend all my time on land and review the game and convince people that you spend most of your time on land.
I'm really excited for this game to get here on ps4 and I know it's where I'm going to spend most of my time this winter.

All in all it just comes down to personal preference! If you don't like it then you're not going to like it. I don't think scored rreviews matter. Because GTA V got a 10 and I can't play that game for more than 5 minutes without getting bored.

"Btw, still playing GTAV online.... just seems empty, repetitive now. lol."

But not repetitive, empty enough to stop yo from getting to rank 50?Lol ;) So it can't be all that bad. Ive pretty much stopped playing until the heists are released, ive played all the interesting/high paying missions over and over and ive had my fair share of fun on free roam with friends.

And i know what you mean, ive done my research with AC4 too (i never buy a game without researching it) and it definitely looks like a massive improvement over AC3 but not many missions apart from naval and fortress takeovers have been show which makes me suspicious. I hope it doesn't just pass you off from stranger to stranger doing boring tasks. With no sense of direction or purpose. We will see though. But ill rent it, better to be safe than to have a £40 hole in my pocket.

Rank is VERY easy with a crew. Just like earning money. I'm like near 55 now. I have 10 cars in the garage and about to buy that damn Adder. The mods are what cost because I max them out on all the cars/truck/motorcycles.

Haven't even touch the single player mode much at all.... :(
