Rayman Legends PS Vita missing content patch still in the works

El33tonline writes:

"Many PS Vita owners were disappointed to discover that the handheld port of Rayman Legends was missing all 28 Invasion levels included in the PC and home console versions. Ubisoft promptly promised to add the missing content via a free patch but two months later we’re still waiting for this update." (PS Vita, Rayman Legends)

One question still bothers me though: Why the hell didn't they just include the missing levels in the game in the first place? Was it reaaally necessary to hear the people complain first before taking action? Sometimes, I really don't understand these big-wig corporations.

they have said that they ran out of time towards the end of the vita version's development hence the missing levels. still not cool though!

not cool at all. i aint buying the game until I know the content is definitely there.

While I'm pissed as much as the next guy, excuse my french when I say that is fucking stupid.

It's still a fantastic game with TONS of content. I mean TONS. I put time into it daily for over a month and still never had to replay any content. Also the Vita version has exclusive Murphy Challenge levels so it actually goes both ways since the console counterparts actually lack those levels. There are extra playable characters like Prince of Persia Rayman and Splinter Cell Glob that you only get on the Vita.

And all that for $35 compared to the nuked down non-touch console counterparts selling for $60. Like I said, I'm eagerly waiting for those levels but come on. You more that get your moneys worth for what you pay for.

I swear people will find anything to complain about. The Vita is stugelling and as I already noted multiplat games sell for much less on it. Can you really blame them for having to postpone some of the content on the Vita (not even negate it, just delay it) with the revenue it creates?

Then when you don't support the game because you nitpick issues like this, it only makes that dilemma for devs become that much worse. Therefore you end up actually hurting your investment in the Vita even more.

See, your issue is that you're giving Ubisoft the benefit of doubt, when you really shouldn't.

Here is the chronological order of events on the consumer side. Mind you, this doesn't paint the full picture, but it strongly implies some things...

Rayman Legends Vita is announced. Announcement video says 90 levels (check back, it 100% does).
Reviewers get copies of Rayman Legends on the Vita.
Someone with both copies of the game notices there are roughly 30 levels missing.
This person reports it to the world and people get angry.
Several supporters made vague claims as to why the content was removed, but all of these claims were proven wrong when the game released (Size was the assumed reason, though the game has more than enough room for them).
Towards the end of the US release day, Ubisoft mentioned a patch would come out to add these levels.
Nearly 2 months later, the content is still in limbo.

What does this story imply? Ubisoft always planned on releasing the game sans the extra levels, but bad press caused them to reconsider that. They quickly made the announcement that the missing content would be added, but probably didn't start the process till sometime after.

There are 90 levels in the game the invasion levels bring the count up to 120 I believe or 130 so... I'm pretty certain there are 90 levels there.

Honestly it wouldn't have truly bothered me if they would have never said anything and left out those levels. Sure I would have been disappointed but not enough to not buy the game.

They are giving you the EXACT same game that the console versions get. Sure 30 levels removed but again you have the extra murphy levels, extra charterers, and the touch screen murphy interaction that is so freaking lame and lackluster on the PS3/360 versions.

You tack all that up and honestly you come out at least close to even. Again the Vita people are paying almost HALF the price of the console versions for the more or less the same game.

The price to quantity/quality ratio for the Vita is through the roof in comparison. That's why I have such a issue with Vita owners nitpicking. They are basically complaining for content they didn't pay for. And what's even better is Ubisoft said that they would now give you this content. I have had some issues with Ubisoft in the past but why aren't Vita gamers applauding them for this, not heckling.

What's next, are we going to get pissed that Killzone Mercenary doesn't have 32 player multiplayer like the PS3 version?

Can some one explain to me exactly why you expect the same game for almost half the price? Again even then there are even a lot of pros that go with the Vita version that you just don't get on the 360/PS3 version. I just don't get it.

The only thing I see as being a viable reason is the classic whiny gamer syndrome. I guess as admiralvic said, you could be upset that they didn't mention it. The reasoning should have been so obvious though that they shouldn't have had to address it. Simply put, you didn't pay for it.

My point was that the missing levels were stated missing from the start, but Ubisoft didn't bother to address it till a few days after it was reported. I think a lot of us can agree that it would have been better for them to be upfront, than hoping no one noticed or cared.

It's the reason I haven't bought the game yet.

will eventually get it :) No worries. I had a choice to make between 36 $ last of us on psn vs rayman legends on vita. I went with the obvious choice :) Once I get my 10 $ back from psn, gonna invest in either tearaway or rayman legends :)

I hear ya. It just annoys me because I (along with most of you I assume) love my Vita and want it to prosper.

When the community reacts like this, it really only hurts the future of Vita. Granted there are times not to purchase a game due to laziness or stupidity. As I noted with all the information above this is NOT one of those times.

That said as somebody that will soon own a PS4 but doesn't currently own a PS3, I'm jealous about your TLOU purchase. I hope it's available on the PS4 via back compat or a upscaled version.

Still waiting for the patch they better release some extra levels or something!
Right now it also takes to long to get to awesomeness level 11 without it.

To be fair, even with these levels it takes too long. Assuming there isn't a platinum award for these levels, it only adds 448 or so awesomeness. That means you still need to earn roughly 2,000 points via online challenges.
dodo101  +   415d ago
Yes i know but 448 points are worth 45 gold trophies that's roughly 20 days.
Right now i'm at 4500 it's such a grind!
admiralvic  +   415d ago
"Right now i'm at 4500 it's such a grind!"

Yeah... I know. I'm at 4,450 myself. I could easily have platinumed if I cared, but the challenges are so demotivating. I hate the idea that I can put in hours of work to get diamond, have a few people beat me (thats the top 1%, so that is at most 20 people a day) and come away with 40 less points as a reward for my effort. It would have been better for these times to have regulated amounts, since I can appreciate the effort, but getting 2,000 with people constantly affecting your score is too much of a hassle for me (why I have 268 silver trophies).

I'm still waiting for the patch before i buy it.and just because of this i'm getting it second hand!
PersonMan  +   415d ago
I want them to also let us choose between touch controls and console controls.

It's not coming, simple.

Never trust Ubisoft!
