Capcom releases updated Resident Evil series sales figure

According to updated figures, Resident Evil 5 is now the best selling game by Capcom. (Capcom, Industry, Resident Evil)

According to the listings themselves, overall, Resident Evil 4 sold more than Resident Evil 6 (deservingly so).
The only game that sold more was Resident Evil 5.
I still hold that 2 and 4 were the best of the series.

It's a shame that Remake sold so bad. If it had gotten excellent sales, we would have gotten a new entry with more focus on horror unlike a mix of action with Resident Evil 4. Granted, 4 did turn out to be the best of the series but 5 and 6 completely shifted in direction from horror to action.

They put the remake on the wrong console its as simple as that. If it was released on a playstation system it would have sold a lot better. Not sure if the PS2 could run it though.
Anyway RE2 is still my favourite in the series.
Then the remake and then RE3. I liked Code Veronica but found it a little camp and silly with the Claire and Steve moments. It's soooo cringey when you go back and play it now haha.

Capcom made a mistake by making Remake exclusive on nintendo platform (GC/Wii). They should make it multiplat on every platform.

If those dum fuks would release RE3: Nemesis as spin off, and Code Veronica as RE3, as it initially should be, I think series would be safe as it was.

But Remake did sell pretty well, it was like 1.2 million or so and that's great for a remake. Being GC exclusive did limit the amount of sales remake could make but if that eventuality didn't affect sales expectations then it's Capcoms fault for thinking they could sell multimillion units on one platform with a game everyone had already played. It's like Sqenix with Tomb Raider, sales expectations were just too high for the game to ever succeed.

They have to go with the weapon they know the player has.
Either that or they'd have to make different scenarios for the "best" weapon(with ammo) available to the player.

Ahh that knife cutscene. I remember when I first played it, so awesome.

"Resident Evil 1: Remake (1.35 million)"

This is sad. They didn't even mention RE Zero...

I actually liked 6. 4 and 2 are my favorites, but still.

Apart from the lack of horror, dinosaurs and COD gameplay I really couldn't get past the controls for RE6. That's what really stopped me from playing it all the way through. Bad camera and awful cover system too.
I love RE4 but hate it as a Resident Evil game, it was the first RE game I didn't like in terms of story and lore. It was a great game in general though.
RE2 is my favourite in the series by far, that game was the coolest most intense experience I had ever played back in the day.
What did you like about RE6?
Inception  +   635d ago
@WeAreLegion

Yeah me too. I like Leon and Ada campaign, enjoy a bit of Jake because of Ustanak that resemble Nemesis, and never like Chris.

Seriously, RE 6 have the potential to be much better than the final game if Capcom focused on Leon by making Sherry/Ada as Leon partner instead of Helena, put Ustanak & that big Snake as bosses in Leon campaign, remove Jake / Chris campaign so Leon campaign have more playing time.

Digital sales not included it seems.

They already include digital sales for each game.

EDIT: And now I saw that I replied to you twice with the same information. I thought it was another person. Oh, well...

Thanks, but I didn't see any figures on the Resident Evil 4 sales on platforms outside of PS2, Wii and GameCube.

Not even on Capcoms site.

I always die a little bit inside when I see Revelations sales. It deserved to sell so much more...

And I don't understand why they put Resident Evil 4 in 7th place if it sold 5.8 million in total.
Azurite  +   635d ago
Probably more than that if they include digital and PC sales.

Pains me to see ORC, 5, and 6 so high on the list. Revelations at the bottom is saddening since it was an actual good resident evil game. Shame about the REmake and 0 since they were some of the best in the series and RE0 was the scariest overall.

Make ORC a co-op/Competitive online title to hold me over for UC4.

5567(infinity)902. Resident Evil 6 (so bad it makes me weep)
