The story is too old to be commented.

Great news, lots of details.
"Can PS4 and PS3 users play together online, cross-platform?
The functionality is technically possible and some developers may choose to support it for their titles." I hope some devs take advantage of this, at least for the first 2 years.
It's also cool that everyone gets system updates, even if they don't have PS+
For the people who care about it, it's cool that you can use the headset for voice commands.
If you don't have Plus, but log in to an account that has Plus, you can play online games.

i word counted this bad boy.

8647 words.. (o_O)

they really covered many many things.
and cleared up some previously unkown or unconfirmed things.

Good Job =D

FITgamer998d ago

You must be really bored lol.

JimmyLmao998d ago (Edited 998d ago )

@FITgamer

I just copied and pasted it into microsoft word, which told me the word-count. haha =D

even if i tried, i couldn't keep track of that many words without stuffing up, lol!

Septic998d ago

Why is hardly anyone talking about the fact that the PS4 won't support external Hard-drives??

gaffyh998d ago (Edited 998d ago )

What the hell, can't play MP3s?! Not that there aren't plenty of other formats you can convert stuff to, but that is weird.

Conzul998d ago

Not all good news....they've dropped the ability to play MP3s. Now we're forced into Music Unlimited for any form of ingame-music-override.

What if we want to listen to stuff that's NOT on Music Unlimited? like homebrew stuff, old game soundtracks or tracks we made ourselves?

Guess no product is perfect, but boy, did Sony screw up this one.

gaffyh998d ago (Edited 998d ago )

@Septic - Because nobody cares when you can upgrade the internal HDD, and external HDDs support can be added later. I'm 90% sure that MS actually said the Xbone doesn't support external HDDs either at launch.

FamilyGuy998d ago

It's weird that they broadcast usb 3.0 but don't accept external hdd. I was really looking forward to transferring things back and forth at 3.0 speed.

Dropping the ball on MP3 support was unfathomable. No one anywhere ever would expect a PS4 not to play MP3s. I understand that it's meant as a gaming device first and foremost but I still expected to have all the media functionality currently present on the PS3.

Wtf were they thinking?

For me specifically, the biggest blow is not having media server support. I'll have to keep using my PS3 to stream my laptop content to my tv. I really hope a patch for these things comes soon.

bout to read the whole thing lets go.

xHeavYx998d ago

Get a drink and a snack first, it's gonna take time

Xsilver998d ago

http://www.youtube.com/watc... i have this playing in the background feet kick up with some snacks and drinks feeling like a sir ready to read.

Omegasyde998d ago

Alot of disappointments.

1-No Group option like XBL where me and a friend and jump into a session together from the get-to

and what really pisses me off and is complete $%@$%@#%@#%@#%@#%#@%@#%

Will I be able to play background music while I play PS4 games?

Yes, the Music Unlimited streaming service will allow you to listen to music while you play PS4 games. A subscription to Music Unlimited is required. Get full details here.

.....
Will I be able to play MP3s on PS4?

No.

That's bullshit and greedy. So the only way to play background music is via a online music subscription.

Conzul998d ago

@Omegasyde

Yeah and even then MU [Music Unlimited] doesn't have everything.

Really stupid and breaks against the pro-gamer efforts that they've been trying so hard to effect.

Pintheshadows998d ago

I hoping their lack of MP3 support will be so unpopular they will reverse through an update as it is just plain stupid.

nmeyers997d ago

@Xsilver
Man you got me hooked on this!!! http://www.youtube.com/watc...
That is some good stuff!

Shake_Zula998d ago

No support for media servers... Gotta admit, that's a big hit for me... Still getting it, and I'm excited, but it's odd that they would take this out (or rather, not put it in)

xPhearR3dx998d ago

It doesn't support MP3's either. There's a lot of negative news with this list. I'm still getting one, but man. Lots of disappointing stuff in there.

Evil_Abed998d ago

Finally making sense why it doesn't play CD's. Sony are trying to sell their subscription service by limiting the media options on the PS4! No mp3's?? The heck??

Pretty anti-consumer d**k move SONY.

Conzul998d ago

Completely agree.

TIME FOR A TWITTER CAMPAIGN FOLKS!!!!!!!

rela82me998d ago

And everyone was denouncing Xbox one for having media features, now that the PS4 doesn't have them people are crying for it.

DiRtY998d ago

Some bad news in there...

come_bom998d ago (Edited 998d ago )

"When playing disc-based games on PS4, do I need to install data to the hard drive?
Yes, all PS4 Blu-ray Disc games must be cached to the hard drive to ensure a smooth gaming experience. However, certain titles may not require you to wait for the game data to be fully cached before starting gameplay. In order to start playing disc-based games, users will need to insert the game disc into PS4 just like on the PS3 system."

This is pretty dumb by Sony. So no retail game can be played from the disk, it has to be installed to the hard drive... WTF the stupidity in this. It's a console! The 500gb hard drive ... is going to be always full...

BTW... no CD, MP3, external hard drive... WTF... did Sony become stupid all of a sudden!

Glad I'm waiting in my purchase. No rush. As of now, I don't like what I'm reading.

Outsider-G998d ago

All the info you need in one place. Great for those who don't know too much about the console.

Kayant998d ago (Edited 998d ago )

And it begins....

Heads up-

No MP3 or DLNA support (Thanks gaf for the spotting)..... WTH Sony???? I hope that can be patched in later these are basic media features found on almost every media device today . So no local content playback for anything?. Looks like they are pushing Music unlimited really hard.

Clearly Sony are not looking to compare with MS in entertainment features apart from APPS.

I really do want to see how MS approaches this.

Luckily for me this isn't too much of a problem but I expected better.

This post sums it up well. http://www.neogaf.com/forum...

Well we wanted a games console I guess we got it :p.

ruefrak998d ago

I love the PS4, but this is BS. It better be added in soon. As I was reading the FAQ, this part stuck out like a sore thumb to me. So basically it's more powerful than the PS3 but can't do a lot of what the PS3 is capable of? The frickin' Vita can play mp3s for freak sake!

I really want to know more about video support, which was nowhere to be found in this post. MP4? AVI? MKV? MOV? Can it play any of them?? Aside from games, this is what I use my PS3 for the most. When is Netflix and YouTube support coming? Launching with just Movies Unlimited and Music Unlimited isn't enough.

RytGear998d ago

Dude, even the WII could play MP3s, a massive step backwards here, this had better be added soon OR maybe a MU sub would only cost like £10 if you are a plus member or something? I would be down with that.

wenaldy998d ago

M$ does the same too.. Sucks..

HugoDrax997d ago

"Well we wanted a games console I guess we got it :p."

- They say you don't know what you got, till it's gone..

Gamers have been harsh on Microsoft for pushing media capabilities with the Xbox one. Now that all media capabilities besides DVD/Blu Ray playback are missing from PS4, gamers are now asking for an all purpose console?

I guess to be fair, these features are available on PS3 so I can understand why we all assumed it would be no different with PS4. I personally always keep an external HD connected to my PS3 to play music/movies through. It sucks that I won't be able to do that with my PS4. I already have an iTunes Match, Netflix, and HuluPlus account. I'm sorry but I'm not signing up for Music/Movie unlimited anytime soon.

Emilio_Estevez998d ago (Edited 998d ago )

This is really long.

Gamesharing confirmed?
"Can I access content I’ve purchased on another PS4?
Yes, you can use content you’ve purchased on up to two PS4 systems simultaneously — simply sign into a friends’ PS4, and the content you’ve purchased will be available as long as you remain signed in."

"Can two people use my account’s content on two different PS4 at once?
Yes, this is possible."

Can't believe I actually read the whole thing.

ziggurcat998d ago

it's the same functionality as the PS3. it used to be up to 5 systems...

Emilio_Estevez998d ago

I know, my wife and I gameshare and I have ran out of accounts on my PS3 for that very reason. Mostly from when it was 5.

They had been releasing info that seemed to suggest it wouldn't be possible on PS4 so I'm glad to hear it will be. Not that I'll have 2 PS4 anytime soon though.

pyramidshead998d ago

Well...some of that FAQ is...odd...and I'll sum it up by saying I'm glad I did't sell my PS3(not that I was going to anyway mind)!
Hopefully some of that can change over time via firmware updates or something.
