Boom Blox on Wii has the best physics on any platform

Boom Blox, the upcoming casual game from EA and movie director Steven Spielberg, has the best physics of any game across any console, according to its senior producer.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com in an interview at EA's Casual gaming brand event in London yesterday, Amir Rahimi, senior producer on Boom Blox, added that once the Wii version of the game is finished "there's definitely the possibility of going to other consoles".

The physics in Motorstorm are way more advanced than this game and anything on the Wii or on any other console for that matter.

forum_crawler3889d ago

Where is your proof?

Do you happen to have access to the source code of Motorstorm and every other game created using a physics engine to give your "unbiased" opinion?

How do you know?

shadowghost7523889d ago

regarding your comment about source code I don't need access to it because ingame all of the crashes are physics based and are unique each time, this game looks crap. Little big planet will be so much better not just from an enjoyment view but also from a physics view

Little Big Planet says HELLO!

Palodios3890d ago

Ever since Havok, physics have been pretty much in the bag already.

GutZ313890d ago

Ha...haha....HaahaaHAAhaahAAHa h

Hes joking right?

Has he been living with Osama Binladan in some cave for, oh, I dont know, the past 2 generations??

Even if "[they] spend the majority of our CPU cycles solving physics. The game", with a 700MHz CPU that really doesn't amount to much when you compare it to a 3.2GHz Cell or 3.2GHz tri-core.

ItsDubC3889d ago (Edited 3889d ago )

I agree that the comparison obviously seems one-sided, but I don't think we can be sure exactly knowing that the 3.2Ghz CPU in other consoles has other more difficult tasks to handle concurrently such as rendering in 1080 vs 480p (we don't know exactly how much work is off-loaded from these CPUs by their respective GPUs in rendering these high resolutions). Obviously, it's difficult to make a comparison if a game running on a 700Mhz CPU uses 90% of its cycles to handle physics whereas an entirely different game on a 3.2Ghz CPU uses 10% of its cycles for physics.

Can someone tell me how a machine with underwhelming power can have the "best" physics?

BrotherNick3890d ago

Can someone tell me how a machine with overwhelming power can have the "worst" physics?

iceice1233890d ago (Edited 3890d ago )

What game would that be? Oh and are you enjoying your shuvelware console that you payed 250$ for?

Nick are you playing dumb or what? I asked what game had the worst physics, you said it is on the PS3 what game is it? Come on explain to us. Also I have a 360, not a ps3. And the PS3 isn't even shuvelware, your lil motion sensing gimick of a console is.

BrotherNick3890d ago

What game would that be? Oh and are you enjoying your shuvelware console that you payed 600$ for?

NO_PUDding3890d ago

Damn.... It's shuvelware?

$600 down the drain. Atleast you only wasted $250.

Drekken3890d ago

Nick what are you talking about?? Shouldn't you be taking your imaginary pies out the over cookin momma?

BTW, I love my console. It has rendered my PC irrelevant and keeps me plenty entertained.

BrotherNick3890d ago (Edited 3890d ago )

Drekken what are you talking about?? Shouldn't you be killing your imaginary aliens with your guns?

Drekken, it prolly is hype. :)

Drekken3890d ago

Ok Nick, so we can agree to disagree. Dont attack me because you think I am attacking the WII. I was just wondering from a tech side how components from years ago that did not have good physics with a pc now has the BEST physics... sounds like hype to me.

kwicksandz3890d ago

Like last years unanimous GOTY Super Mario Galaxy?

Palodios3890d ago

unanimous wouldn't describe the descision. Arguable GOTY, sure, but unanimous would mean everyone believed that, but between Orange Box, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Uncharted and a few others different reviewers gave different games GOTY.

As far as physics... since Half-Life 2 was on the xbox, and its physics were revolutionary at the time, its reasonable to think that the wii is capable of really good physics. Better than games on the 360 and ps3? We'll just have to wait and see on that one.

iamtehpwn3889d ago

Thank god someone has some sense around here.
Yes. Most of you guys, I will assume, do not program.

Before a Real programmer like me, I actually know what I'm talking about. Now. How is it possible? Like Sidar said, GOOD code.

Code with the best optimizations will run fine. You know, more powerful platforms have waaay worse code than Lower end platforms (see: PC). This is because developers don't optimize and clean the code up well enough, and they end up putting what they can do in a corner.

I find it funny how everyone says no one is pushing this platform, but yet when someone does everyone makes a negative deal out of it....

The physics in my room are way more advanced than this game and anything on the moon or on any other inter orbitary formations for that matter.
