Can anyone recommend a good game to start of a 3DS collection?

Fire Emblem: Awakening
Never seen this game go on sale lately.

Super Mario 3D Land is sort of the defining 3DS experience, as far as I'm concerned. There are games that I actually like a little better, but there is no game on the system that takes better advantage of the technology. it's just a damn fun game.

Animal Crossing is good and can keep you occupied for hundreds of hours if your into that. Watch some reviews to see if it's something you would enjoy before buying though.

If you want something challenging I'd highly recommend Donkey Kong: Country returns 3D.

Or if your just looking for something that's got a pure fun gameplay formula I'd go with Luigi's Mansion 2 :)

Of course the other obvious game is Pokemon X/Y which can least damn near a 1000 hours.

Is 2DS still available at Frys for $109.99? Also what is better buying 3DS for $149.99 or 2DS for $109.99?

The 2DS is literally just a less portable version of the 3DS without the 3D. If you can swing the extra 40 bucks, then I definitely would. I'm not going to say that the 3D is ever ESSENTIAL, but it really does enhance the games on the system that were designed to take advantage of it.
