"We ask for your thoughts on HD remakes. Wind Waker HD was released last month and even Miyamoto recently teased the possibility of creating more HD remakes. Are these games wanted? Should they be priced at $50?" -- Nintendo Enthusiast.
No, concentrate on new games that innovate in terms of gameplay. I missed some Gamecube/Wii classics but I'd rather prefer new titles built from the ground up. Especially Nintendo isn't in the position to be so lazy right now, they have to be more aggressive with the WiiU to make it a success.
exactly, nintendo is really being lazy by not creating any new ips
I love how you are insinuating that they put all their workers on one project. They can create new games (which they have) and work on remakes.
They actually do release new IPs occasionally, they are just typically overshadowed by the well known ones. Wonderful 101 and Pandora's tower to name afew. They also have X in development and whatever Miyamoto is working on. They've also revived Pikmin, and though its not a new IP, its been 10 years since they release the second. making it new for many people.
The Wonderful 101 Harmo Knights Pushmo Dillon Rolling Western Sakura Samurai Freakyform Stlye Savvy Xenoblade The Last Story Pandora's Tower Disaster Day of Crisis I named several new ip since 2009.
tsh what do you mean ? ha haa Nin brings NEW GAMEPLAY ever mario game . . can you please go evaluate . just imagine what would happen if Nintendo chooses to RE-IMAGINE MANY of their past games tacked with online features? this is just a test from Nintendo to see how US the FANS REACT to such a possibility . . . Online Co-Op Multi Player Star Wars Rogue Leader for gamecube ?? . must . become . . immortal
As long as it doesn't interfere with other projects and it doesn't cost $60 per title then i'm all for it but I also agree that Nintendo needs to make the Wii U stand out on its own, instead of being known as console who's known for its HD remakes. ;)
yes, give to some other company to do it, like Ocarina of Time 3D, it really did a pretty good job with that remake, I loved it.. sure there should be some supervising of it..
Well i dont have a problem with it so yes bring it on.
That would be nice - but it would really rock if it's one of their second-parties taking care of it (Retro, MonolithS oft - for example). That way it doesn't hinder the development of the bigger titles. All of the recent remakes they've done thus far have been excellent, so I don't see why they should stop. It would be a neat little way of tiding over players between big releases.
simple answer yes, HD collections sell well if you actually put in some effort into making sure they are quality HD upscale
count me in for Mario Sunshine HD and i'd love to see a Mario Kart compilation in HD with Double Dash, MK64 and Mario Kart wii all remastered
Why not. Anything that would sell Wii U consoles, be it a new game, a new IP or a well made HD remaster is good for Nintendo.
YES!If they end up been remakes like Zelda W.W quality them bring it !
Depends on if they're gonna charge full price again. £50 for the Eshop version? No thanks
Actually it's $10 for any individual game or $2 for a full day rental of all of them. Knowing Nintendo they'll probably add the Resort games to it as well at some point, effectively making the full "owned" package over $150 if so.
I hope they release more HD remakes but they REALLY have to come up with new IPs and fast. I felt so dissapointed by the last Nintendo Direct when I saw the 2 Mario-themed wiimotes and the new Kirby game. I thought to myself: "Is that really what you can come up with?". I love Nintendo and probably always will but I'm not oblivious to their faults. They play it way too safe.
Mario 3d World is not "safe". It's genre bending. Pikmin 3 is not 'safe". It defines it's own genre. Wii/ Wii U party games a a tad on the safe side, but that can be explained due to the target market. Same could be said of the Smash and Kart crowd, but lets be honest, if you manage to create such a large user base for certain IP's, it's better to push the innovation in terms of a balance between trying new things and keeping those other aspects which just work. COD, Battle Field, GOW, Gears, Elder Scrolls, Halo, Uncharted etc.. These are no different.
Get the Guys making the wii party game son it.
What about the "reUmagined" rumor going around? http://n4g.com/news/1379468...
Can't really count that unless it's proven to be real.
The Wii U needs games not remakes
YES. I'd like to see all of those N64 classics remade with today's graphics.
Yes that would be sweet.
As long as they do a good job on them, then yes. Windwaker as a remake was great. If they were to utilize the remakes in such a way as to stave our hunger until new games are released, then they wouldn't have to worry about the third party as much. The ReUmagined rumor seems to put some, if not alot, of hope into this, but as a rumor it can't be taken without some salt.
I think the answer to this question is rather simple. They have an HD console and a plethora of games that would benefit from a little make-over. The only time this would be an issue is if new projects gave way in priority to remakes, which lets face it is not likely... WW HD was not just a simple HD conversion and that was done in 6 months by a skeleton crew (albeit a skilled one). Converting 64 and up to HD for all Nintendo's back catalogue of successful hits will not only appeal to new gamers but add a fresh perspective of nostalgia for older fans. Two thumbs up to that idea!
Why not both?
they can redo their entire back catalog in hd and i would be more then happy
New Mario Paint!!!
F-Zero GX with online multiplayer Eternal Darkness
I will give you 5 maybe more good reasons for an HD remake. 1. Super Mario 64, Galaxy,Galaxy 2 and Sunshine combo pack HD. 2. Metroid Combo pack HD. 3. Sin & Punishment: Star Successor HD 4. Punch-Out!! 5. No more Heroes 1 and 2 HD collection. 6. Starfox HD Collection. 7. Rogue Squadron HD 8. MadWorld HD 9. Vietiful Joe 1 and 2. 10. The last story, Excite bots, Xenoblade Those are a few Games that if made right priced at about 29.99- 49.99 would move systems and games
