China’s sexiest actress says she’s a gamer, will appear in Warrior Spirit commercial

Gamesinasia: You may not have heard of Fan Bingbing, but you’ve probably seen her. In addition to her prolific acting career, the 32-year-old Qingdao native is in all sorts of advertisements and is even involved in the world of fashion. But her most recent project is hawking Netease’s upcoming game Warrior Spirit, appearing in a cinematic trailer for the game and then giving an interview about it to Tencent Games that’s clearly intended arouse the, ahem, warrior spirit in the game’s fans.

Of course it’s really all just a PR stunt for Warrior Spirit, Netease’s latest entry into the ever-burgeoning field of Chinese-developed MOBA games that will look to steal some domestic players away from League of Legends and Dota 2, both of which are among the nation’s most popular games. We may know more about how much of a chance it has of actually doing that later this week, as the game goes into a round of open beta testing this Friday.

When I was a videogame nerd who listened to 80's metal back in highschool sometime in the late 90's I never would've guessed in my wildest dreams that years from then people would be pretending to be fans of 80's metal and videogames to try to fit in with the cool crowd. Still it's weird how this has become the thing to be and I'm somehow still not cool.

Fate is a cruel mistress. I remember a few years back seeing a lot of 'hot topic kids' wearing shirts and sweatbands with Jack Skellington's face on them. Now as you may very well know, Jack Skellingon is from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

I gestured to my younger cousin's shirt and asked her: Have you ever seen that movie?

She looks down at her shirt and says: Uhh. I just think it looks cool.
That, and the day that she told me she had no idea who Metallica were killed my soul.

I find it so... I'm not even sure to how to describe it, so I'll go with curious. I find it so curious when people pretend to like anything. I used to play with my Pokemon toys in grade school. Now idk if it's because I was always bigger than everyone, but nobody really cared one way or another what I liked. Now people have a check box system of things they should, and shouldn't say that they like.

Curious.

"cool" is only a title given, it doesn't matter.

Those who aim to be accepted as cool are short sighted.

What do you mean 80's metal is not cool?! Do people still say cool?!
