Turkish developer overcomes the odds to release first game

It would be easy to glance at Pathika during an App Store browsing session and dismiss it as yet another iOS puzzle game.

Yet behind its minimalistic look and feel lies a game with a story to tell. Not an in-game narrative, but a yarn about Turkish game development that would make any Western indie dev shake their head in wonderment.

No government support for start-up businesses, a low number of skilled programmers, and no entry-level tertiary studies for game development mean Turkish developers have a much harder task than their Western counterparts to bring their products to market.
