Victor tries to understand what happened to music in video games and why aren’t they as catchy as the older tunes.
You should play The Last of Us, it'll make you download the soundtrack; and vice-versa. Best game soundtrack this gen.
They clearly haven't listened to Journey.
How bout em 1980's slasher tunes.
Uncharted theme is my song of this Gen. Every know and then it just pops into my head.
That's a good one. I'd suggest the Journey and Nier soundtracks, too. And Valkyria Chronicles, ass well.
Nobuo Uematsu, Yasunori Mitsuda, Yoko Shimomura, Koji Kondo, Hitoshi Sakimoto, Motoi Sakuraba (just to name a few) still live and breath and still compose music for video games so I don't know what this guy is talking about.
The older consoles had quirky sound chips. Nowadays, it's all orchestrated. I love the old stuff, too but it's never coming back.
I'm throwing Dragon's Dogma out there. Music for that game is fantastic.
Mass Effect series had the best music this gen
Assassin's Creed has had some good soundtracks... really can't think of a whole lot else. Last of Us had a good theme but nothing truly memorable. There's halo but the best music from those games were last gen. Really I haven't heard a lot of game music that has appealed to me this gen. Hmm...
Assassin's Creed 2 has some of the best music I've heard, Jasper Kyd is a damned genius. Heavy Rain, Uncharted, Remember Me, IloMilo, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Killzone 2, Crysis 2, Alan Wake, Skyrim, Shadows of the Damned...and that's just off the top of my head.
Some great gaming music mentioned above. I would like to add the soundtrack from Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning.
