A New Alien Game: Should We Bother Hoping?

It would be appear this particular dead horse is still holding together just enough to beat on some more. The recent news rumor mongering this week is that not only is there a new Alien game on the way, it’s a) a first person shooter, b) an FPS being done by Creative Assembly, who are best known for real time strategy games, and c) is going to feature Ripley’s daughter, Amanda.

To be honest... even if Creative Assembly was making this game as an RTS I feel like I have already played the best "Alien" game and that game wasn't Alien but rather Xcom Enemy Unknown. I am pretty done with the "Alien" license now. Better IP and ideas are out in the wild vs this stale IP.

I'm a Aliens movie fan and i welcome another Aliens game, despite the criticism the Aliens:Colonial Marines game got i still enjoyed the game when i played it....I believe with the more user friendly hardware the PS4 has the next Aliens game should look amazing.

I think a lot of developers who approach the franchise in the mindset of making a game seem to completely misunderstand it. They want to make action games but Aliens doesn't really suit that style. A tense third person survival horror game with a small squad of marines would be much better. Ramp the tension and release in controlled bursts of action. I don't think a single game beyond the first AvP has caught the essence properly. You can't just throw endless swarms of Aliens at us for an entire game.

Lol, i'm HONESTLY playing A:CM now whilst i'm waiting for my dinner to arrive (15' pizza) I've been playing it on/off for a couple of months, it's honestly not the worst game i've played this gen, like Resident Evil 5 or Prototype was

The soundtrack and sound fx are cool, "some" of the scenery is quite cool aswel

It's REALLY easy though, even on super soldier, dunno how far I am from completing it, it's just a quick pick up and play game

I think in the right hands this license could do really well...they should take a different approach and not have it be entirely a first person shooter.

Survios, 20th Century Games collaborate on new Aliens game

From GamesBeat: "Game developer and publisher Survios is collaborating with 20th Century Games to bring a new Aliens story to life. Set in the Aliens universe, the new game is a single-player, action-horror adventure for PC, consoles and VR. More details about the game are forthcoming at the Alien: Expanding a Dark and Frightening Universe panel at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Though Aliens is a big name, this is far from the first time Survios has worked on big entertainment properties. Outside of their original titles, the studio has created games for Creed, The Walking Dead and Westworld."

Alien Isolation 2, I can only dream what that would look like on current generation graphics, if there ever was a GoFundMe page ever needed for a sequel that would be a game I would throw money at to support.

Make Isolation VR for PS5, please. I’ll buy your new game, too, promise!

VR baby. That's where it will be the most immersive experience. Get it done Survios. Take your time. There's a modded game you got to match or exceed.

Holding any of the rifles or the smart guns in VR and wielding them would be so awesome.

Disagreeing with us isn't going to stop the game from being in VR disagreer. It's happening and in the article itself. And, VR *WILL* be more immersive. Survios is a VR developer.

The Saboteur - criminally underrated and a fantastic mechanic of bringing colour back to Nazi-occupied Paris.

The article lists Bulletstorm, Sleeping Dogs, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.
