New study finds half of Australian gamers are female

A new study has found that women account for 47 per cent of all Australian gamers, prompting the nation’s peak gaming body to urge the local industry to take note.

The statistic was revealed in Digital Australia 2014, a report commissioned by the Interactive Games and Entertainment Association (IGEA) and undertaken by Bond University.

IGEA Chief Executive Ron curry told Gamer Thumb that the study further indicated that gamers were not a homogenous group and instead had diverse interests.

It's pretty much the same in the US. My girlfriend not only plays game she will also sit and watch me play them for hours. She really enjoyed watching GTA IV and GTA V.
