This is either a horrible port or IW are releasing a different game on PC than the one we've all seen.

UltimateMaster1486d ago (Edited 1486d ago )

BF4 graphics > CODG imo
BF4 minimum spec < CODG ms

BattleAxe1486d ago

The thing that nobody in this thread is talking about is that in addition to 6GB of RAM, you also need a DX11 compatible GPU.

My GTX 260 (DX10) has been an awesome and reliable workhorse since 2009, and I don't really want to switch it up quite yet. Fortunately the only two games that I've heard about so far that require a DX11 compatible graphics card are CoD: Ghosts and Watch_Dogs. I'm sure that Tom Clancy's: The Division will require DX11 also.

clouds51486d ago (Edited 1486d ago )

I think most of the games that are released in 2014 and on will require DirectX 11. Everything that is next gen multiplat (not crossgen) will be built on directx11.

It's a good moment to upgrade your video card and you can get a very decent one for 150-200$. So not too bad.

BattleAxe1485d ago

Yeah, I've been looking at getting a GTX 660 for $159.00 + Taxes after mail-in rebate. I currently have 6GB DDR3, and I've been considering an upgrade to at least 12GB, or I might just max out my PC at 24GB.

Irishguy951487d ago

What? The only reason games go this big is because they are uncompressed. MGS4 was 40gigs or so, Skyrim was what 7 gigs?

CGI-Quality1487d ago (Edited 1487d ago )

MGS4 was 33GB. Besides, games are getting bigger. Minimum requirements can't stay low forever.

OT: I'm good to go!

ChickeyCantor1487d ago

I have the feeling it's a doorway to crap optimization and a lot of floating garbage+metadata.

HammadTheBeast1487d ago

I have no clue why they're asking for 6 gb minimum. Crysis 2 can run on 4 gb minimum easily on low settings.

clouds51486d ago

Simple.
Crysis 2 was optimized for very low memory 32bit systems (360 and ps3).
Next gen games will be optimized for high memory 64bit systems (xb1 and ps4).

Ergo the PC versions of those games also need high amounts of memory and of course 64bit (because 32bit only supports 4gb). It's not that a game like CoD does really need that much memory. But if you have it, why not use it. Its not difficult to use high amounts of RAM. But its very hard to mash these huge games into a low RAM pool.

Even the iphone 5 / iPad air is 64bit. I'm so glad that 32bit is finally dying.

For comparison, here are the rumored (unofficial) specs that GeForce revealed earlier:

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ / AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHZ or better
RAM: 6 GB RAM
HDD: 50 GB HD space
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti / ATI Radeon HD 5870 or better
Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card
DirectX: 11
Internet: Broadband connection and service required for Multiplayer Connectivity. Internet connection required for activation.

FlyingFoxy1487d ago

If you go by minimum spec for games it usually means they won't run very well at all, goes without saying but it's always best to have above recommended specs for any game.

BTBuck11487d ago

All i need for my PS4 is the controller and to have a seat.

gamernova1487d ago

Same here except for my keyboard and mouse :P

Dante811487d ago

All I need for my PC is the PS4 controller and to have a seat.

TheEnigma3131487d ago

Why does this game need 6gb of ram minimum. It shouldn't need more than 4gb tops.

WeedyOne1487d ago

Yeah that doesn't make a lot of since considering current gen consoles don't even have 1gb ram and can play the game...

UncleGermrod1487d ago

????????...????...???? are you here on earth with us?

WeedyOne1487d ago (Edited 1487d ago )

@UncleGermrod

Na, I'm high.... really really high! ;)

But in all seriousness what didn't make sense about my post? Current gen consoles can run this game cant it? You would think minimum system requirements would be in line with current gen consoles at least by a small margin. Not over 6x the ram of current consoles for MINIMUM graphics settings on pc!?!

WeedyOne1487d ago

Damnit someone tell me WHY you disagree lol!

jay21487d ago (Edited 1487d ago )

They've ported it either
1.PC to next gen consoles. Current gen consoles just get it worked on their dev kids. (most likely considering they're basically PCs).
2. Ported the next gen to the PC).

DragonPs41487d ago

Well next gen systems are going to have higher specs so PC will require higher specs.

ginsunuva1486d ago

It's true. The Ps3/360 only have 512mb RAM

Unreal011487d ago

Why so much Ram? I get the feeling a lot of pc gamers are going to be out of luck here.

LightSamus1486d ago

Whilst the RAM seems a bit high, any serious PC gamer these days has at least 8GB so it shouldn't be an issue. Other games will start to need it once developers stop making games for 360/PS3 and have the luxury of moving exclusively next-gen.

clouds51486d ago

And so what just go ahead and buy some more RAM. Costs like nothing and almost all mainboards have enough slots for more RAM :)
Just make sure you buy the same type that you already have or it won't be compatible.

cloud4951487d ago

BF4 - Min 4gb

AC4 - Min 2gb

Batman: AO - Min 2gb

RedDeadLB1487d ago

I have to correct you on that, BF4 actually didn't run all too smoothly for me with a decent system and 4GB DDR3.
