Some weird 720p rumors regarding Xbox One today. First Call of Duty: Ghosts, now TitanFall?

The graphics don't even look next-gen.

"Remember when idiots used to say Killzone was too grey? Every time I see TitanFall I only see brown."

I'd just like to point out the irony in Enemy's comment.
Angels3785  +   838d ago
And thats ^^^ a bullshot...
MysticStrummer  +   838d ago
@Panda - I think he's implying that the same people who didn't like KZ's colors are now praising Titanfall's. If that's the case then there is no irony. My two cents...

OT - I am surprised at this if it's true. The game isn't that visually impressive to begin with, but I assumed that would mean a higher resolution.

''Xbox720'' nick name is making a come back ..

OT: it's all thx to the eSRAM, that 32MB is just not enough for neXt-gen

I think it was more 720p 60 fps as Respawn stated early on. Still bad though
KillrateOmega  +   838d ago
Well it's made by the same guys who made CoD4 and MW2, so I'm willing to bet money that the game will run at 60fps since 60fps was one of CoD4's (and the CoD series in general's) greatest strengths.

Also, I believe Respawn came out at some point and confirmed 60fps.

I'm not trying to be a **** or anything. I'm just saying.

Respawn has confirmed 60fps and also have stated they will not compromise on this. They have been tight lipped about the resolution so 720 wouldn't surprise me
eezo  +   838d ago
so microsoft all i want to know from you where are all the powers of CLOUD you talked about so much

AND Titanfall and Ghosts are probably the most visually underwhelming next-gen games we've seen and yet they can't get that running in a higher resolution?
Reverent  +   838d ago
Plus, isn't Ryse still struggling just to run at 30 FPS? I mean, not hating on the game at all. It's probably the only game on the X1 that I actually want to play. But really... Some people try to say that it looks better than... Let's say Killzone for example. First of all, not true, second of all, Killzone runs at twice the frame rate at native 1080p.

I think a lot of people around here really don't want to believe that the X1 isn't as powerful as they'd like to believe. Again, I'm not trying to hate on anything. I want the X1 to succeed, I really do. I just don't get some people's blind faith in Microsoft.
n4rc  +   838d ago
So what?

Killzone looked like it has framrate drops and its a 30fps game.. Multiplayer looks to run great but looks no better then titanfall visually.

Which looks better isnt black and white.. I think ryse looks better then kz.. You think kz does..

I could say I don't get your blind faith in Sony... They are pretty tight lipped on everything while ms is sharing details left and right..

It all depends on your perspective
black0o  +   838d ago
@n4rc '' Multiplayer looks to run great but looks no better then titanfall visually''

u need to check ur eyes

- ''it has framrate drops and its a 30fps game''
how often do run into 24+ enemies and they throw RL at u

anyway if wanna really see a frame rate drop like snow on Christmas check out DR3

- ''They are pretty tight lipped on everything while ms is sharing details left and right''

@n4rc, you think Killzone doesn't look any better than Titanfall? Are you kidding me? All credibility lost...
wsoutlaw87  +   838d ago
I believe the framerate drops were for the 60fps multiplayer. I doubt they want it dropping from 30
majiebeast  +   838d ago
Well Microsoft did say they didnt target high end GFX. I just didnt think it wouldnt be able to run a source engine game on 1080P and with 60FPS.

Reverent  +   838d ago
For comparison's sake, back before I built myself an actual gaming rig, I'd play games on a laptop from 2009. It could play any and all of Valve's Source Engine based games at 1080p and well above 60 FPS. Source is an absolutely fantastic engine.

IF, this is true, there really shouldn't be any excuse on Microsoft's part. (This is why I find it a little hard to believe, but still... It would be bad news if so.)

Funniest thing was actually that the only reason CBOAT posted was because Penello tried to bullshit people on GAF and was spinning like a mad man. Him posting on GAF only made it 10 times worse, almost as big a backfire as #Rysefacts

For Call of Duty, Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin told Eurogamer on Tuesday, 11 June 2013 that there priority was to have the game, built on an improved version of Infinity Ward's existing engine, run at 60fps across all platforms, then build from there and Call of Duty: Ghosts runs at 1080p resolution on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Infinity Ward has said.

for the titanfall one, treat it has a rumour until an official statement from Respawn Entertainment

And second of all, Killzone is 60 FPS in multiplayer.

This runs on the Source engine. It's not going to be 720p!!

I guess you don't know who Cboat is. It's fine, young blood, I was just like you when I first read his post. Thinking he was a 10 year old who can't spell.

He types like that because he doesn't want his writing to get tracked so people find out who he is, and then he'll get into big trouble for leaking out information that wasn't supposed to be leaked. This way, no one will ever know who he is.
1nsomniac  +   838d ago
Ahh my bad I take it back. I've heard of Cboat through other sites that have never quoted his writing and never heard his full name... The abbreviation makes sense now... oops!

If it's true it runs at 720p then I am truly shocked!!

Well in all fairness, the quote from the article was originally from the CoD: Ghost 720p thread on NeoGaf, people saw it and made a 'Titanfall 720p' thread.

From what people are saying, CBOAT seems to be a fairly reliable source. As to why he writes like this, he apparently does it to avoid being tracked down.

Who knows, it may very well be false, but this is NeoGaf we're talking about here, so I wouldn't completely discount it.

CBOAT has his fair share of misfires.. but given he has been right about quite a few things in the past.. I wouldn't push his word aside.
ShadesMoolah  +   838d ago
Exactly, I would think the resolution would be higher than 720p, given that this will be the target resolution for the 360 version.

Whether the Xbox One version will be 1080p or not, I wouldn't say I'm certain it's going to be 1080p, but it will surely be above 720p.

It's on the aging Source engine, it's a game made by the previous heads of Infinity Ward (CoD2, COD4: MW, MW2) and targetting 60fps. There's AI running around, there's real players running around, there's huge Titan's walking around with their own AI that you can jump into, there's ships and battles going on in the background/sky - there's really a lot going on on-screen at once. With that in mind, 60fps will be a big target, and maybe it doesn't quite make 1080p, maybe it's 900p. If you have to drop some pixels here and there to be able to push more information on-screen then that's fine.

COD Ghosts is confirmed 1080p 60 fps on both Xbox One and PS4, which is not a surprise, visually I think they're about as striking as each other to look at, but Titanfall clearly has a lot more going on in the multiplayer space.

It would explain why MS has been making such a big deal about Titanfall only being shown on high-end gaming PC's so far. At Gamescom and TGS, MS said it was the developer's choice to demo the game on a high-end gaming PC. And yet, those Titanfall demos were in the MS area, using that same PC-in-a-cabinet setup. Has there been any demos of Titanfall actually running on a debug XBone yet? No wonder.

Actually in gamescom titanfall was not in ms area it was just outside so I knew it was only be shown on pc then.

I would have more respect for MS if they would just admit that they paid time exclusive instead of claiming that this game is only possible because of the cloud. It is really insulting.

Don't think it would be good news for Sony fanboys. Not if this pans out and it means that MS will pressure 3rd parties to standardize their titles on all platforms.
MasterCornholio  +   838d ago
To tell you the truth if there is a big difference in hardware between the two consoles and developers aim for parity, future PS4 owners would suffer by getting a game that doesn't take full advantage of the extra power of the system.

If developers don't aimnfor parity and maximizes both versions according to the capabilities of each system then there is no problem.

wouldn't surprise me:
" The jaggies are a curious point in particular; even judged by the high quality feed we have availability direct from the Microsoft E3 conference there's more sub-pixel shimmering and rough edges than any other game on show, which suggests this may not be a full-blown 1080p title"

"From what Respawn has announced so far, the 60fps bullet-point is proudly announced, but it remains tight-lipped on what native resolution is intended for the final game."
