Battlefield 4 interview part 3: Bach talks console optimisation, 60FPS & installs

Battlefield 4 executive producer tells VG247′s Sam Clay all about the shooter’s console optimsation and installs. He has stressed that DICE wants to push all console formats to the best of its ability.

He talks about wanting to push the PS4/Xbox One - but not too long ago they denied the higher than 720p resolution on PS4. That means they're NOT pushing the console.

More lies from developers. It's getting tiresome.

so because they say their pushing the ps4 gfx at 720p at 60fps they re not pushing the machine because is not in 1080p.

quick question would you mind if it was at 1080p @ 30fps with same to less gfx.

30FPS for BF4 would be a step back IMO.

you have to think its a console its not a high end PC which the game is developed for .. yes i know "i can get 60fps with my blar blar blar PC"

Honestly I would rather 720 or 900p at 60 fps than 1080p 30 fps cause although would look prettier it wouldn't be as smooth. I would think because they were working on consoles that not even out yet, that might have handicapped them a little so they really didn't know for sure if they could go full 1080p but when Battlefield 5 comes out or even if they decide to go with Battlefield bad company before that, that will be 1080p cause you figure that game would be at least 2 years from now anyways.

It went from above 720p @60fps, to locked at 720p right after it was confirmed that the xbone version was stuck at 720p.

They're not pushing the PS4 because they already announced the resolution would increase, then backtracked when they couldn't deliver on MS' console.

you keep forgetting gfx on pc are scalable. they could of just set it a 720 and gave more gfx effects. everyone act like devs workout problems the same. why would the set it at 900

I agree with you about them not entirely pushing the consoles. This is understandable considering a few factors.

They are making a PS3, Xbox 360, PC ,PS4 and Xbox One version of the game.

All will take time and resources. If they weren't so thinly stretched to do this, then maybe we'd see more optimization from them.

That being said, if they had more time I am sure they would push it even further, they talked about how they almost considered delaying Next Gen versions of the game.

That's cause they can't have this visual quality and framerate and the resolution.

Consoles are not that powerfull bro... I belive you wont see many 1080p60 fps, actually think in next 2-3 year those won't be existent really.

it's more likely time i guess. They can do 1080/60fps on consoles but they didn't had much time for optimization, as they stated already when they were considering delaying next gen versions. Hope they atleast push 900p on consoles.
