Beyond: Two Souls Review | Paste Magazine

Paste - "Jodie has curled up in her train-car seat and fallen asleep. I’m bored. So, I start bugging her. I flick a nearby water bottle until it rattles. She wakes up and snarls at me to cut it out. But there’s nothing else to do, Jodie! I start pestering the other passengers, shuffling their belongings, unnerving them with my whispers."

hello mr xbot you cant hide your previous comments!

ryse will be along the same lines as this only alot worse!

also where are your exclusive 360 games?

Stsonic1490d ago (Edited 1490d ago )

It's about time you were banned to be honest. Everything that comes out of your mouth is anti Sony. Do you have nothing better to do? If the game was an Xbox exclusive you would be behaving in the exact opposite way which is pathetic.

FlunkinMonkey1490d ago

Your mum makes horrible movies, of the home variety.

To be fair, he DOES provide a valuable service of countering and balancing out the rabid horde of ps4 fanboys that tear apart every pro-MS article and circle jerk over the slightest issue with the xbox...

The concerns expressed in these reviews don't reflect the game. I feel like most of these reviewers played through the game, not really caring which choices they make, assuming the choices don't affect the story.

They do affect the story, massively. The game play is much more intricate than Heavy Rain. The pacing is much faster, too. I love this story.

boeso1490d ago

I think with this game it should get 1/10 or 10/10. You either love it or you hate it imo.

wishingW3L1490d ago

now this is what I call a very poorly written review.

----
"There are half a dozen outbursts from Jodie in which she yells at collections of men to stop telling her what to do, and not to treat her like a puppet or a plaything. In any other game, this would be an anvil-sized wink at the camera about the player who is “controlling” Jodie, who has of course been a puppet this entire time."'
-----

WTF? You can literally go paragraph per paragraph and almost everything will either make you shake your head or facepalm.

-----
"Ellen Page spends a surprising amount of time in this game showering and/or wearing only her bra and underwear. I guess when David Cage says “we should learn from films,” he meant the male gaze?"

Just finished it yesterday.

Gameplay design alot of times didn't make any sense at all. The story direction didn't make sense most of the time. The choices that you make don't have much outcome on the overall story (which I guess is understandable considering they're trying to tell you a story not let you make your own).

But even still it was very entertaining, I liked it. I thought I would regret paying full price for it but it's actually worth it. It has multiple endings but it's not the type of game I'd play twice. The acting is superb, but that goes without saying. The graphics are inconsistent. Some times it's the best looking game on ps3, other times it's just one of the better looking games on ps3. I'd give it an 8/10 - 8.5/10.

As far as the genre goes I wouldn't call it a step forward but it is a solid entry.

Oh, so you played it more than once ... It can't have been that bad then, can it.

matrixman921490d ago

I like how you said gameplay and story didnt make any sense, yet you give no examples. As for choices not mattering, there are 23 different endings; i doubt you got them all. While some of them are similar, some change greatly depending on your choices. There were some choices I didnt even know you can make in my first playthrough.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi1490d ago

Wow... give a game a good score despite some criticisms and you still get raged at for it lol.

As for gameplay elements: When controlling Aiden, the distance you can go with him isn't consistent, they only allow you to kill, or possess certain enemies, and most of the endings revolve around the final choices you make at the very end of the game. So really all you have to do is replay the last 2 or 3 chapters over and over to get the different endings.

As for story: I didn't understand why it was so scattered until the very end, but even still it wouldve served them much better to tell the story from beginning to end. Some chapters served no apparent purpose at all actually.

And to reiterate, I DID ENJOY IT A LOT!

I'll repeat for all the people who only like to focus on the negative things I said...

I ENJOYED IT!!!
