Many Call of Duty players “aren’t hardcore gamers, or even gamers”, Infinity Ward told OXM.
Lets just say that the most casual gamers at this moment are on GTA.
I agree, i guess that's the trouble of having such a hugely popular game. Everyone jumps on board, the casuals along with the vets. Glad i play with friends and not with randomers/casuals.
Cod crowd mostly immature gangster wanna be, acting tough behind the safety of their home.
^^^^ this generalization/way of thinking is "casual" thinking
The level of irony in shoddy's post is killing me.
Way to go Infinity Ward!!! That's the way to get more sales than GTA V. Lets label our fanbase, smh.
I find that the gamers who criticize people as Casual and such are usually the worst players.
@ shoddy Don't generalize so much, a lot of them are fat, southern US hillbillies to. ;)
no problem with that, games like Mario, GTA, CoD, MGS NFS, FF, Resi will always gather casual crowd super mario bros on NES had the most casual crowd ever and at the same time it's the godfather of gaming it's a plus imo as long as the game design remain "core"
u guys r dumb
COD has a terrible community imo, I can remember numerous matches where I would play well and get called a cheater etc by children. Got old real quick.
If i would have been caught shouting and swearing in my room when i was a kid the same way i have heard them on Call Of Duty i would have been smacked into next week. It makes me question the quality of parenting these kids have.
Quick fix, mute everyone as quickly as possible, save yourself the headache.
Until one of said kids sends you a message, freaking out on you for muting them.
Reverent - They'd be unable to confirm if you've muted them or not, you can simply block communications with them entirely if you need to. I had to do that with some kid that would message me repeatedly after a match because I was using C4 (just like about half his team including himself) and claiming I was ruining the game lol.
Alot of 10 year old kids love this game, and it's all they play. Kinda sad... I even know one kid who thinks he is a "professional" COD player. They are not true gamers.
Surprising no one.
There are definitely people on here who get upset when someone says CoD is a casual shooter. Then again, there are people on here who get upset when someone says anything based in reality. @Oschino - CoD is designed so that anyone can pick it up and be relatively successful at it. That is the very definition of casual, and the main reason it's so popular.
They are talking about their community not the game it self. There is a reason almost any one can be good here and there and its not the game but lack of talent playing it overall. I think you're confusing accessibility with being casual. They make everything for the most part easy to grasp and understand but it is still up to the player to be good or not. You will never see a group of casual Cod players beating a pro team or any group of half serious intelligent players.
@Oschino1907 ***"You will never see a group of casual Cod players beating a pro team"*** That maybe true, but you will however see casual players being at the top the leader boards in public matches. In other shooters such an event would never happen.
What I've been saying for years and now the developers back me up. You get a lot of "fake gamers" who only play on Cod claiming they are gamers....sorry but playing only on Cod does not make you a gamer. If I painted a crappy picture by grabbing a paint brush and lashing it out on the canvas does that make me an artist up to the same standard of someone studying art or does art for a living....no
I just hope people don't think being popular with the casuals is a bad thing. That's what happens when you've created a game that can be appreciated by the masses.
Exactly, I play tons of games and I don't take them seriously, i'd rather be considered a "casual" gamer than some of these pretentious nuts who think that playing a game on the hardest difficulty makes you "hardcore." At the end of the day it's all about FUN, and COD just happens to be fun. So what if it's not challenging fun, it's STILL fun and the obsessed cyber bullies that constantly talk crap about it really need to do something better with their free time.
I too have a causal side to me even though I don't play COD (Think games in the Wii series).
COD is in the same league as Candy Crush. The next feature of COD next gen is to ask for a life to Respawn.lol
I have played all the main shooters on X box 360. Gears of War, Halo, Battlefield, and Cod. On a scale of difficulty. Gears of War is the hardest to master, then Halo, then Battlefield, then Cod.
And the worst community of people online. EDIT: I have played SOOO many online games on multiple platforms but have not seen so much filth in my life in any place other than COD
not only in CoD but seen everywhere, it's today's culture man, we the 90's children were much more polite/conservative
90s kids aka: last generation with some sense lol. Todays kids just arent raised right for some reason. If my mom would have caught me swearing up a storm online back when i was a kid, she would have smacked me into next year
I would kind of hope that they would know who they are selling too.
Ive been calling COD players casual for years now. Glad they finally got around to this.
When a game is this popular, clearly there will be many casual players jumping in. That doesn't have to take away from the experience for core gamer
It doesn't have to. But it did.
It kind of does, I think. In order to bring in casuals, that is, people who don't play many video games, gameplay must be made easier to understand, and easier to play. Appealing to both core and casuals can work in a single-player experience where parameters can be adjusted, but in multiplayer, you have to "bring everyone down to the same level."
Finally Infinity Ward admits that they are milking and foolishing its onw poeple with they money make franchise COD, now i understand why COD players can be so easely foolished.
What a revelation.
It's not a revelation that the COD community is casual. The revelation is that Activision actually admitted to it.
Casual and poorly-parented.
This is why I play the Souls games. You have to at least attempt to learn something to progress...
that was obvious but its good to hear from developers
This comes as a surprise? I thought this became a well-known fact when girls started labeling themselves as "gamers" because they play CoD. Nothing against the REAL gamer chicks, of course.

*gives thumbs up*
So gaming is still so black and white that we still use casual and core to define gamers? Gaming still has a long way to go as an industry. I guess elitists need something to keep their entitlement.
"Infinity Ward Admits to Having a Mostly Casual Player Community" I bet the YouTube try-hards and, ahem, 'professional' Call of Duty players will be pleased to hear that...
