DICE once again publicly establish the consoles as the leading platform for Battlefield 4, explaining how if you want to see a big difference between 3 and 4, "pick up the controller”. (Battlefield 4, PC)

Yeah, I noticed that when I pick up the controller and try to spot someone with the back button, which has been a staple in EVERY Battlefield game, it puts me in the useless Battlelog menu. I don't care. Why do I need instant access to Battlelog in game? Put it in the start menu...

You misunderstand. The RB/RT buttons are how you spot now, not back. Tapping or holding back brings up the Battlelog menu. Holding RB/RT brings up Coma Rosa.

I hated the beta.. they changed the controller layout, and people are rushing to get a kill, there is not cooperativeness anymore. And there is that trace left by the sniper rifles.. damn, they are trying to lure a lot of COD players with those ridiculous changes (and more, since bf3) and the worst part is that it's working.

80% of games I played on bf3, there wasn't any team work involve. In bf4 beta the same thing happened. Everyone was a lone wolf doing their own thing

The controls felt better for the PC version. They were sluggish in BF3 on PC for me. BF4 are much more responsive.

Other than that, I really didn't notice anything different between BF3 and BF4.

even the beta on the console felt better and moved better than BF3... and that was an unoptimized build from 3 months ago... so i'm sure when we "pick up the controller" the game will feel even better..

That's funny coming from them because I thought almost everyone knew that this game was built from the ground up as on PC. Ported down to each existing consoles specs and then created with next-gen consoles specs in mind. You're naive if you think that this was built for consoles, because if that were the case, there wouldn't be such a huge glaring difference in quality between the PC and other platforms.

Yea, I don't even think that's possible without entirely rebuilding the game from the ground up targeting one specific console. And if this is the case, then expect it to be built on current gen hardware because next-generation console specs are still not set so there isn't a way to build a game around a console that technically doesn't even exist yet. Something else to point out, all EA games currently being built have the lead platform of PC and are then ported down to each console accordingly. They said it at their own E3 EA conference. Which leads me to believe that this is completely false, because games built for consoles don't have major difference between it's PC counterpart other than resolution and frame-rate. That isn't the case at all with Battlefield games, as they are nearly entirely different games on PC compared to console. If indeed this was built on consoles, that would mean the game was designed for lower frame-rate, lower resolution, less players, smaller worlds, less physics incorporation, less destruction, exc. Just overall a completely inferior game in every form i.e Battlefield 3. Why the hell would they ever change from PC as lead platform when literally ALL of their games have PC as lead. Doesn't really make sense to me and would undoubtedly produce problems with them wanting to maintain parity between every platform, as lead almost always holds an edge over it's competition. Where did you say this quote was from again????

You're wrong about so much that it would be impossible to have this discussion with you. In fact, the original maps for Battlefield 3 were perfectly indicative of a console compromised experience, which is why Karkand was hailed as the savior of Battlefield 3, since the maps were much more suited to PC play. Anyway, good day etc etc.

first big change would be not using a mouse and keyboard so accuracy would be crap, then the sub-hd and jaggies would be eye burningly bad

then the laggy servers and delay between controller button presses and the actual action would totally break immersion

nah....just gonna play bf4 the way it was meant to be played

maxed out in ultra on pc

not medium-sub-1080p on ps4

it's weird though how during big European tourneys, the world's best still choose to use Xbox controllers hooked up to the pc..

given the choice between both, you still see a 50/50 split..

Like in one of total biscuits videos on the game, I feel one of the biggest changes is that the momentum of character movement feels right so that it isn't sluggish but it feels like you are maneuvering a soldier that is actually running with combat gear

What I DON'T like is how when you are aiming down sight at an enemy, there is a 90 percent chance that they are obscured in some way by some sort of HUD element such as a point marking control point alpha or bravo. As a result, BF4 turns into a game of shoot the red triangles and it loses a lot of immersion I feel

During the beta, I played 2 whole games without a HUD. It was actually a really cool experience and led to some extremely tense moments. I highly recommend it if you don't mind toggling it back on every time you die :P

I do appreciate games without HUDs, so I may try that. I didn't even realize you could do that, it must be a config edit or some sort of console command

UI.drawEnable 0 I think (not 100% sure, but it's the same command in BF3).

I wish the consoles could completely remove the HUD. I could only take away the map, ammo counter, health bar, and kill feed. The objective icons were still there. Even so, it was still fun.
