Mad Catz's Ouya-Killer Priced, Dated And Potentially Deadly

At $249.99, Mad Catz's M.O.J.O. Android micro-console will cost two and a half times more than the Ouya when it's released December 10. It'll also be six times as powerful with the potential to stream games from your PC to your television set, so I'd say it evens out.

The story is too old to be commented.

It will fail. $250 for this thing is overkill. Just leave it to the big console makers and quite over saturating the market with this crap.

Ouya can barely sale for $99. I'm not sure why Mad Catz think they can sale their android console for $250.

I think its funny to use the term "Ouya-Killer" when the thing was DOA.

PeaSFor1493d ago

because we REALLLLLLLY needed a new vaporware android machine.....

btw, Ouya Killer? lolwut? the ouya isnt even "alive".

It's a shame to see gamers reject the Ouya. Yeah it's had some bumps in the road after it's launch but then again what console doesn't? I think it's worth the $99 price tag and offers a great opportunity for game developers.

But with the mobile games market still going strong and next gen consoles being even more open to indie devs, what's the point of the buying an Ouya?

exactly 100%, though the system is selling fairly well @ Gamestops, and Target so its not that bad for a low advertised system that many still do not know much about.

well that is a good question, asked quite a bit, and to A: that , there is plenty of reasons, one of which XBMC is a real large one, on the OUYA store XBMC has been made for the OUYA's hardware TEGRA 3 (T33) chipset!

thus turning the OUYA into a small media center topset box that aside from the cost of the OUYA is free. Cable for me is no longer worth the cost because i can use XBMC instead.

look in this thread for my comments about the OUYA..I have two of these lil game consoles myself one on each of my HD TV's. along with my PS3's

@ joeorc : I really dont see the point in having indie games on the Xbox one and PS4 because what I have seen so far the Indie games wouldnt even push the PS3 or Xbox 360 hardware

As for XBMC , I have been using Openelec XBMC with two months on a Zotac Zbox ID40HD which is an Nvidia Ion based micro PC. It came with windows 7 installed but I wanted it to use as a media player. OpenElEC is much lighter than standard XBMC and runs as smooth as silk on my box but my box doesnt have enough power for 1080P videos.

I think XBMC is the future of media player software and it should be included with all consoles because its perfect for Home theatre movie and music playback.

When most , if not only nice thing you can say about a so called game console , arent gaming related , it's safe to say it's dead and mostly damage control .

XBMC (and alternatives ) is everywhere , that's the point , who cares about getting an Ouya for mostly that ? Yeah sure those people exist , and they'll probably try to "justify" their choice , but it obviously will never catch on much further than that

It brings those games to your TV for one. But the real treat is it encourages new comer developers. Gives them a chance to put their little games on a console without having to go through a lot of red tap. Plus the Console is a Dev Console out of the box... not a lot of cost to get started.

More developers = more games = more inovation.

Who would buy this over the new Vita console?

shwisha1489d ago

Do you want to play PS Vita games on your TV or play games by small indie developers?

Lboogieskells1489d ago

@shwisha
Small indie devs make games for the Vita. Best of both worlds.

elhebbo161494d ago

I rather invest that $250 on something else.

IcicleTrepan1493d ago

Yep you can get a brand new 360 or PS3 for that and it'll probably come with some games already and the games library is proven on both.
