Review: The Wolf Among Us - Faith - Save/Continue

Save/Continue writes:

"Ultimately like previous Telltale efforts then, The Wolf Among Us comes across more as an interactive visual novel than as a game in the traditional sense; the notion of challenge or difficultly all but abandoned in favour of accessibility. Its a trade-off that many who have played last year’s game will be familiar with and its likely to be one that many more will ignore; the mean and engaging plot that the The Wolf Among Us deftly weaves being as compelling as anything seen recently." (PC, PS3, The Wolf Among Us: Episode 1 "Faith", Xbox 360) 7/10

I like that you aren't splooging all over this game like everyone else. Honest reviews for the win.

I'd like to know what you mean by splooging all over the game when most reviews are in the 8 range, and this is a 7. Is he not splooging as well?

So are the other reveiews not being honest with their opinions? Any evidence to back that claim up?

Or is honesty a question of being more critical or agreeing with your tastes with these types of games? Because that's wrong.

Other reviews may indeed be honest with their opinions, but very few of them admit faults. They say everything they love about the game, without so much as a peep on its downfalls. 7 is a solid score, no doubt, and I look forward to playing it. But most of what I've seen has been a constant stream of 9s and 10s (and according to metacritic it's got an 8.5 average), and I can't help but feel that people are giving the game more credit than it deserves.

Yes, that statement is entirely baseless seeing that I haven't yet played the game myself, and I wholly admit it's childish of me to think that way. But it's what I feel, and I stand by it.

Again, I like this review because while it still comes out positive, it takes note of the game's missteps, so I wanted to give kudos where kudos are due.

I think this game is solid 8 at least. No one picking up this game thinks it is a game that is supposed to be challenging or in depth. It IS an interactive novel the way most point and click adventure games are. And compared to other games in the same genre this game is amazing.

Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

Me, because I haven't played this yet.

I didn't think I'd like this game as much as The Walking Dead but I really enjoyed it.

Looking forward to this, Telltale is starting to get really good at the cinematics of this kind of game.

They certainly are becoming masters of their craft, that's for sure.
