Legacy of Gaming: 10 Years of Call of Duty

After 10 years in the spotlight GamR Mag looks at what. if anything, Call of Duty has achieved.

"October 29th marks the 10-year anniversary of Call of Duty, arguably one of gaming’s biggest franchises, ranking 9th on the list of best selling series of all time. It’s amassed a cult following over the years and has cornered a large portion of the shooter market. Along with this army of devotees, Call of Duty has become somewhat of an icon for bad sportsmanship online, overuse of DLC and fan-boy stereotypes. So has the impact of Call of Duty upon our beloved industry been negative, or do the original innovation, intent and design still stand alone as a positive mark for the series?" (Activision, Call of Duty, Culture, Infinity Ward, PC, PS3, Treyarch, Xbox 360)

So many CoDs, and only Call of Duty and Call of Duty Modern Warfare are worth playing, or changed the entire gaming industry forever.

The original Call of Duty was incredible. Modern Warfare was fantastic.

And now we have this..this..rinse-and-repeat crap.

Ghosts looks like the same shit, different day, with pathetic attempts to try and beat Battlefield, with a hilarious "new" engine that LITERALLY looks the same as the previous version.

"Environmental destruction". Wow, a petrol station roof falls in a really shit way.

I'll be over here staring in awe at this skyscraper coming down.

I agree that CoD is a joke nowadays, but that skyscraper coming down has already gotten really old. It falls the same way every time and it makes the whole map look like garbage afterwards as well.

What a shame when it comes to CoD, however. Series just got progressively worse and worse as time went on.

Unfortunately these days it's become more of "Call of Duty: Casual Shooter 2", bonus DLC tents for camping. I just wish they'd show that level of ideas they had in the first CoDs.
