GameDynamo - The refresh rate of a standard display caps out around 60Hz - 60 frames per second, basically
Exactly right. This is incredible news. So many exciting things are happening in the PC gaming space right now that I can't even keep track of it all: Oculus Rift, Steam Machines, Steam OS, Mantle API, and now this G-Sync tech. Amazing. Not having to suffer with screen tearing or out of sync frame stuttering is like a dream come true for me. The only way to avoid it previously was to have a beefy enough rig to run all your games at a minimum of 60fps (which admittedly I was able to do in the vast majority of games anyway). But this will allow us to play demanding games that really push visual boundaries (like Crysis 3) without stutter or screen tearing.
after the Shield, this is their new hardware project? I can't see how this too can take off to a good start because knowing nVidia, you will have to have their own GPU to even take advantage of what this monitor has to offer. I hope I will be proven wrong! they basically killed the Shield by making it exclusive to their GPU only IMO! it's a freaking Android game streaming device and apparently they think all pc gamers are rocking their GPU! arrogance is so overwhelming in nVidia right now! I think MAD just shot down their ego by grabbing ALL the next gen consoles deal!
no more input lag? :O can i actually play CS at 120FPS instead of 300? great! can keep my GPU nice and cool then :D
Can't you just limit your frames through a video setting or console command?
in most games it causes input lag non the less. tho i havent tried it in a while.
Why would limiting your frames cause input lag?
Could be a nice feature to have, except it's Nvidia so the monitors will be overpriced and require Nvidia GPUs just to use G-Sync. I'll just stick with my 120hz monitor.
