Xbox One’s cloud will be tailored more for multiplayer than single player games

Microsoft has been pushing both Titanfall and Forza Motorsport 5 as proof of the benefits of Xbox Live's new Compute feature. But it's really too early for the world to judge the true value of the feature as we wait for more proof and examples from titles over time. When we got to speak with John Bruno, Program Manager at Xbox Live, we asked him whether Compute would benefit multiplayer or single player games more.

Multiplayer more ofcourse.

thrust1493d ago

I have allways said...

playstation for singleplayer

xbox for multiplayer

My_Name_BTW_Is_Dante1493d ago

Except PS3 was better for multiplayer too. PS4 is going to suck for multiplayer now that Sony wants to charge for it when Xbox One will have dedicated servers for their games now.

"Except PS3 was better for multiplayer too"

Somebody obviously hasnt used XBL .....

InTheLab1493d ago

Other than the social aspect, which is clearly better on Live, they are the same service. They both use dedicated servers for few games and your own bandwidth for everything else.

DigitalRaptor1493d ago (Edited 1493d ago )

What makes you assume that PS4's network is going to be inadequate, when it's already looking far better than either current-gen networks, and has an absolutely crap ton of multiplayer and network related features that stomps both of them?

The primary difference between XBL and PSN this gen was social features such as cross-game chat and party chat. Microsoft has charged you $60 a year for P2P connectivity for over a decade. Sony charged you nothing for a mix of P2P and dedicated servers this gen.

This upcoming gen, Microsoft has an undisclosed percentage of Azure's 300,000 servers available for developers. Sony has a partnership with RackSpace to provide large scale OpenStack cloud servers. They are also using dedicated servers for their own games. As Microsoft said cloud features for XBL will be developed over time, so will Sony's dedicated cloud services will develop for PS4.

PlayStation for all types of gaming. And Xbox, hopefully the same.

I have played COD on PSN...made me realise how much we take for granted on XBL.

"when it's already looking far better than either current-gen networks, and has an absolutely crap ton of multiplayer and network related features that stomps both of them? "

OK...ill bite.

So, aside from DVR, what does PSN on PS4 do that is not already being done on live on the X360? And if you think MS have not improved on what was already the best online service on consoles, you got another coming..

BTW..any word on whether or not COD runs on dedicated servers on PS4 yet?

@My_Name ... please, do yourself a favour and play a multiplayer game on xbox live.

don't make yourself look stupid!

Ghost_of_Tsushima1494d ago (Edited 1494d ago )

This has to be the stupidest question I've seen in a while. Why of coarse it's more for multiplayer they've said that multiple times. If you play games online you have a connection. You have a connection to the cloud then you get to tap into those available resources.

Ghost_of_Tsushima1493d ago (Edited 1493d ago )

Did you read the headline before they changed it? Most likely not because they asked if the cloud would be tailored more towards single player or multiplayer. That "was" a stupid question. Now that they changed the headline it's much better. They went from a question to statement.

lol... grammar nazi. ;)

Thanks for the laugh!

GarrusVakarian1493d ago

I was referring to you using the word "stupidest" to address something as stupid.

Enemy1494d ago

Lol does this website even know what the cloud is?

RuleNumber51494d ago

"over time we’ll see that change, and we’ll see the platform take on more. It’ll offer a wider breadth of things it can do, beyond just multiplayer."

GodGinrai1493d ago

somebody on N4G will still read that as "MS: the cloud will make our games 4K"..even though graphics are NOT mentioned.

as the things r right now...if u want play online ..u need to go xb1..if u want single player games..ps4

DigitalRaptor1493d ago (Edited 1493d ago )

Explain how the amass of next generation online features for PS4 makes it inadequate for online gaming, when it stomps on all current gen offerings? I'm sorry but Xbox fan retardation has reached a new low.

TheKayle11493d ago (Edited 1493d ago )

i think u need to re read some articles

ms is givin dedis at every developer for every game who wanna use it FOR free...

sony still rent servers for their ps3 games...and most of the games have player as host...this cause host advantage ..eternal lag...unfair gameplay..and a lots of other shit...
the amount of server that ms is putting up would need for sony at least the double of the investment they doing for the ps4 to set it up while ms already take money from that business with Azure

i think this is enough of an explanation if u want more...go on every forum with some ppl that understand what their are talking about and u will read the same

ps at the first post i should add ..

if u want play multiplats u need a pc
