Review: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD | Aussie-Gamer

Tynan Muddle at Aussie-Gamer writes: "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is certainly one of Nintendo’s more jovial entry into the series. Set to the backdrop of a Saturday morning cartoon, the game is coated in thick, glossy merriment made all the more emphatic thanks to its revitalisation in high definition on Wii U.

Of course, The Wind Waker is hiding a more sinister storyline behind its childlike exterior. Ganon — the evil demon that the Hero of Time locked away in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time — has broken from his seal and is ready to turn the world asunder in his pursuit of the ultimate power of the Gods."

So what is arguably the Wii U's best title to date is nothing more than a HD update of a game that's over 10 years old?

Also, why not just give the game a 10?

>considered one of the best Zelda games alongside OoT, MM, and LttP
>nothing more

If an improved Wind Waker is 'nothing more' you have some very high standards.

Whatever way you cut it, one of the killer games/system sellers for Nintendo's new console is a 10 year old game, regardless of how good it may be. (and it is good..very good)

I'm not knocking the quality of Wind Waker at all, like I said in a previous comment - it's a great game. My comment has nothing to do with the game itself, but rather highlighting the fact that a core system seller for the Wii U is a 10 year old game. Am I seriously the only one that sees something wrong with that? The only other games worth mentioning available for the Wii U that seem to come to mind are Rayman Legends and Pikmin 3...and one of those are available on multiple platforms. Please, I invite you to educate me on any exclusive games to the Wii U that are absolute must-haves for the system. I want every console to do well. After all, competition is great for the industry.

thats like releasing MGS3 with updated graphics on PS4 and claiming that its sad that a ps2 game is PS4's best game.

Neonridr1404d ago

Rayman Legends and Pikmin 3 are up there as well.

SwiftRyu1404d ago

Well he is kind of right. Its a damning indictment of the state of Wii U that their system seller is 10 years old.

I agree but Wind Waker is still so good that I'm considering to buy a Wii U even though I already own the original along with my dusty ol' Gamecube. OoT3D was also a big seller for the 3DS when it was struggling, so while it's nice to have a great new original exclusive it's also a great starting point to have a remake be the no. 1 attraction.

Don't worry by the end of 2014 I doubt the Wii U will do bad.

Read the rating system before criticising it.

There is no doubt in my mind the fresh graphics, added sailing improvements and HD upped this game to a 10. I gave it a 9.6/10 for Gamecube. Play this!
