From AnalogHype: "Now that PS4 titles are being added to the PlayStation Store, some have wondered how the DRM will work for the upcoming console. Well, the PlayStation Store has the first details. "
Interesting. I don't do digital, but my friends won't be happy with it. I'll wait for an official announcement though
I don't have friends to share with =[ but as long as it's not a pain to transfer to a new console if ever mine were to break or what not then I'm fine.
I don't think it's much of a pain. As long as you're signed in to other's PS4 you/they can play it just fine.
https://store.sonyentertain... That's for ps3 . It says " One-time license fee for downloads to up to 2 console systems that are associated with the purchasing account '' Same goes for knack . https://store.sonyentertain... Except that there is a new feature where you can put your account in any console and play any game from your account as long you signed in . That's what i understood .
That's exactly what it says, you still get the 2 activations but also a new way of signing in to any console to play. So many people on here are too quick to jump to conclusions without reading first :/
Slightly disappointed. With emphasis on slightly.
I don't really share my digital games so this wouldn't affect me so as long as it would be a simple/ easy process to transfer my license to a new console if anything should happen to my ps4.
Its basically the Xbox360 DRM for downloaded games, and since I had Xbox but not PS3 this gen, it is status quo for me when I switch to PS4.
Hmmm, I'm not sure how I feel about this. I mean it doesn't affect me at all as I'm planning on purchasing retail discs for all my PS4 games (except F2P, PS+ and some indie games that I'll download). I just don't understand why Sony would change it from PS3 to PS4, where now the purchasing account has to be signed in on the 2nd system to be able to play those digital downloaded games. But I think this only affects a very small percentage of PS4 owners anyways...
So basically it's linked to your account & no one else in your family can play it on their PS4 if your playing something on yours. This is essentially requiring you to buy the game if you want to play. No more loaning. Kinda sucks cause this effects me & my Brother. I'll be getting all the games I buy on disc, the ones I can. The indies & download only games is what we'll mainly be concerned about here. I'll just be more selective & buy less digital games. I'm being more selective next gen on all games. I don't make the money I used to & only have so much time to play. This DRM is a little bit more restrictive than before; which was already too restrictive to start with. Par for the course for digital I suppose.
Naw, this ain't cool. Might as well remove game sharing altogether. PS3 did it better.
That what i feared in the ps4. I hope this is not true.
Yeah I used this with my cousin, he lives in an area that doesn't have anything but Satellite internet so he doesn't buy many online multiplayer games. So what we would do is when he would come visit I'd download the DLC stuff for games like BF3 on his system from my account so he could play for the weekend. Now with this we won't be doing that.
This sucks. Me and couson used to share DLC.
I am really getting tired of this DRM. I am a gamer with 2 sons 12 & 13. We each have our own systems & already I am facing $150 a year in multiplayer charges for 3 systems in 1 household but now I will be paying in triplicate for all digital content. I understand protecting yourselves from privacy but this is getting outrageous . I am ready to abandon console gaming altogether if this gets any worse. We are not rich but this drm crap is making pc gaming a FAR cheaper & attractive option by the day.
I think you meant piracy, not privacy. And this really isn't for that. Moreso, it's to prevent a million people for playing for the game you only paid once to play. It's unfortunate, but it prevents the abuse of the system that currently exists on PS4. To be honest, I'd rather it be like in the past, but you're going overboard, methinks. Here's an idea, though: how about your kids earning the games? I know it's weird in this day and age; who has their kids work for anything anymore?
Pretty positive that 5 accounts isn't millions of people. I think SONY should make a payed subsciption for sharing, $60 a year and share digitally up to 4 accounts at once. That would compensate for the "Piracy".
... it's called exaggeration.
Disagree, the policy is the same as it hhas always been looking at the pre-orders of knack and batman origins the policy is the same. You still have to have the purchasing account associated with the system for both to play.
Kinda disappointed in this.
is this news?
Hopefully this isn't true, I don't share games but this is that bs
