Phil Harrison points at all the recognition received at industry events like E3 and Gamescom as proof that the system has the strongest titles.
Lol, I guess 900p is pretty strong./s Get 1080p/60fps without sacrifices or scaling back and we're golden.
Even if MS got 1080p/60fps people would still find something to complain about.
Yep well they shouldn't have tried to screw us all over with horrible policies. They deserve this ongoing response.
But they don't and still brag with everything they can. Just take a look at recent news.
"Says Harrison" Come on now people, you should have stopped reading right there. Why not ask the organizers of these events if that's true or not. Did Harrison go to other booths to see if this claim was true or not? Of course he didn't. He's contractually obligated to say this. Even if it's true, who cares? The pre-order numbers are saying that people are more interested in the PS4 and its games anyway.
"boeso" (Yep well they shouldn't have tried to screw us all over with horrible policies. They deserve this ongoing response.) how did they try to screw every one they thot it was time to use drm for that is going to happen sooner or later anyway but in the end they listen to the consumers and changed it.if anything this should show you that they will listen to the customer.my opinion they should of kept the old policy but it doesn't matter
@DragonKnight: No, the awards for the games are awarded by a third party that looks at all the games, and decides. So no, Harrison doesn't need to go to other booth. Others has done the work for him! "Even if it's true, who cares? The pre-order numbers are saying that people are more interested in the PS4 and its games anyway." So what official pre-order number do you have? Real source please? As far as I can tell, every single console allocated to retailers have been sold at this point. In short, you can't tell. However, I find it ironic that you of all people now use the "sales" argument. Oh, the irony!
Despite all the crying and belly aching over his comment. He is actually correct. Sometime Sony seems to not even show their games at these events. There is very little news and when there was it was that Kill Zone has great lighting. Nothing about how innovative and fun it is. Forget the other launch exclusives. Even PS fans don't talk too much about them. T hey are looking and next years releases, and trashing the high profile X1 games.
@Bigboirock Well if you agree with their proposed policies, you're going to disagree with what I said. I strongly believe DRM and always online is not consumer centric and is just a way of making more money from us, for them. Power to the people; there is way more consumers than businessmen's pocket: it won't happen if we won't let it happen. But then again, you agree with their policies, so to me you are a lost cause. Sorry but that's how I see it.
I understand the "he works for Microsoft" comments but in this case he is correct so nothing wrong with acknowledging/promoting that X1 launch games have attracted the most attention a awards. Sony has done the same in the past, so what I dont understand is why some get so mad at Microsoft for promoting positive Xbox news. lol Why wouldn't they?
@nukeitall: You're right, I rarely use the sales argument, but the proof is on Amazon if you want to look. You'll have to look back a ways though because PS4's pre-order numbers have been higher for quite a long time. And to point out the flaw in your end of the argument, while true that both have "sold out" a long time ago, we don't know what that means. We do know Sony has been pumping out consoles to meet demand so we do know that, at least for the PS4, it's a high number. MS on the other hand have been pretty quiet on that front, only saying that they've sold out. So the thing we do know for certain is that the PS4 has been in higher demand for a longer time, Sony has been increasing production of consoles to be available for launch to fulfil pre-orders, and for both we don't know the exact number so "sold out" can literally mean they supplied one console which was bought, or 1 million which were bought. But look into it yourself. You're on the internet right now. But LMAO at E3 awards. That's hilarious right there. Because awards = more recognition and actual money put down on the games doesn't. LOL!
@DragonKnight: "@nukeitall: You're right, I rarely use the sales argument," Unless it benefits your agenda you mean? When it was swinging the other way, it didn't matter and you were claiming the opposite. "but the proof is on Amazon if you want to look. You'll have to look back a ways though because PS4's pre-order numbers have been higher for quite a long time." Amazon doesn't say anything, it merely says that more PS4 supply is available, because both sold out long time ago. More speculation, because you don't know how many would have sold if it was available. In fact, a pre-order isn't even a sale until it is payed for and merchandises exchange hands. "But look into it yourself. You're on the internet right now." Well using your argument, I say "Xbox One sold more! You are on the internet, look into it yourself!" Back up your own claim, or your just full of speculation. "Sony has been increasing production of consoles to be available for launch to fulfil pre-orders," and so has MS, increasing their production to meet demand. Fact of the matter is, there are too many variables in the early cycle to say sales reflect demand. The PS3 had huge demand in it's early cycle and then demand immediately tapered off. The Wii U had huge demand as well, but look where it is now. Bottom line, it is just way too early to say. Too many variables, but that doesn't stop the fangirls from talking sh!t. There is at least three requirements to determine demand: a) if supply exceeds demand (usually by seeing if the console is easily available at most retailers or etailers) b) that a sale has actually taken place (assuming it is for use and not scalping, but that indicates high demand) c) that the sales number you receive is from a good cross section of sellers and trust worthy For instance, if Amazon sells little make-up does that indicate low demand? "But LMAO at E3 awards. That's hilarious right there. Because awards = more recognition and actual money put down on the games doesn't. LOL!" So now you care about sales? Didn't critically acclaim matter more to you? That said, I said nothing about what you stated. Awards means simply that somebody recognized it more than other games at the show! Going by your logic though, the lines for trying Titanfall is among the longest at the trade shows.
Alright lets give them that. BUT the reason being that sony recently have released and supported the ps3 with a plathora of exclusives. This gen most of the Sony exclusives were praised and were recognized a lot more than your typical halo or gears games.
people were playing halo online for over a year heavily , same with gears, but not the games that were exclusive to the ps3 but i agree with rest that you said, the single player portions of the ps3 exclsuives got recognized but then the games died months later cause the multiplayer part stunk on all of them
finally someone who understands how Sony operates. yes they could have given up on the ps3 like ms has on the 360 but they have said all along that ps3 is a 10yr console. just think of the number of games released this yr that could of easily been ps4 launch titles. just a few off the top of my head. gow-a tlou gt6 puppeteer beyond rain feel free to add more.
Gears was is more influential game than and any ps3 exclusive...Uncharted doesn't even come close to what gears offered for this gen. Halo is still unmatched in terms of the contents it offers. You must have been living under a rock when Gears, Halo 3 and Mass effect were getting praised and recognised. Xbox started with tons of exclusives and PS3 ends with tons of exclusives.
Tell me, Spurg, do you enjoy having bad tastes, or is it something you loathe? Even as someone who preferred the 360 at the start of the gen, Halo and Gears are mediocre at best. The PS3 has a wider variety of shooters, including MAG, Killzone, Resistance, Socom, Dust 514, Uncharted and TLoU... The majority of these (excluding Killzone 3) perform exceptionally well in both single player and multiplayer. There's a common misconception that the 360 was the shooter console, but it only has two notable shooter exclusives. And as far as saying Gears is more influential than any other exclusive? That's talking out your arse, those titles belong to Journey and TLoU, as well as the most entertaining online being MAG.
@ Spurg Initially, yeah, credit where it is due. Last time I checked though, the Gears series was turning into a joke.
@Nabbic Halo and gears mediocre???? You must have you finger way up your arse. You mention Uncharted...but would it have been here without the influence from gears. Gears cover system is easily the most copied idea this gen. Gears 2 is even more influence as it introduced Horde mode...I don't even have to list the amount of games that were influenced by horde mode. It becomes pretty obvious that gears series has been one of the most influential games this gen. You got anything about the impact of gears. please mention it. Halo 4 has 4 player coop campaign, Spartan ops 4 co op multiplayer(Play similar to horde mode but has a story), Forge mode(create your own maps, game mode and share it), theatre mode(save your clips and screenshots and share it(COD was influenced by this)) and multiplayer(the amount of game mode that are in Halo is unmatched). Halo has halo wayponit track your stats and checkout the clips and screenshots you uploaded(COD was also influenced by this). The story and lore of Halo is also unmatched for an FPS. But does Killzone and Resistance do all of that. Like a typical Sony fanboy you mention something like Journey and TLOU 2 highly rated as being influential without backing your statement. I ask you this question what games were influenced by Journey and TLOU. Do you even understand what were so influential about Journey and TLOU. Do you even understand what influence means.
^dboyc310...While M$FT is pulling former Xbox 360 titles to rush over to Xbone (Dead Rising 3, Ryse, etc)...Sony has been committed to delivering games on PS3 well into the start of the PS4's life cycle.
@ spurg Cover system was introduce in gaming by a N64 game called Winback and was later evolved in MGS2 and Killswitch. Not only that but killswitch's lead designer himself, was hired by Epic to work on Gears cover system. How much is Gears influential? A big fat 0.
"Gears cover system is easily the most copied idea this gen." Gears wasn't the first TPS game ever to have a cover system, you cannot possibly be that ignorant. Also Uncharted 2 is the highest rated console exclusive of this generation, just sayin.
I am pretty sure they can only say this cause they are counting titanfall which they shouldn't as I could play it on my pc
But not on a ps4.
@buynit Not yet ;)
There is not that much of a difference between 900p and 1080p to be honest. Of course it would be better to have every game run at 1080p but it's not that big of a deal really.
1080p doesnt make a game great. It makes the experience a little better for some people, but most people just dont care.
"Get 1080p/60fps without sacrifices or scaling back and we're golden. " So you mean... graphically perfect games that run at perfect FPS and perfect resolution? OK buddy.
Framerate > resolution. I game in 768p and its awesome
"most heralded game in the history of E3." Wow E3 has really gone downhill.
When a company(Ouya Inc) hold a presentation in the parking lot its a clear sign that E3 gone downhill.
are you serious...that really happened? SMDH!
One step forward, three steps back if Titanfall is considered the most heralded game in the history of E3. Granted it looks very good but nothing more than a unique twist on a milked genre.
