I dont understand why developers who are so called pulling "inspiration" from Skyrim make it seem like Skyrim was the first game to use that formula. How about Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3? Why? Is it because Skyrim was really successful money wise? Its like nobody knew Bethesda Games Studios was great until Skyrim. Reminds me of the guy that no one knew in high school but now he's famous so everybody wants to be him...

Skyrim won 2011 Game of the Year. That makes one kind of get noticed. I know Fallout 3 did as well, but I guess if you look at the type of world they were doing. Then AC4 would not be a waste land. But I think it was the time line..... two years in the making puts it around the time Skyrim landed on the scene and was huge. They also used a lot of Far Cry 3 which was out at the time as well. They even took some of the Devs from that game to build a lot of AC4 ( Hunting and crafting system, more open world ).
