"We would like to formally apologize for the crass and unfair review of Beyond: Two Souls than ran yesterday. We have updated the review to better reflect the quality that is expected of us."
cheque's cleared ! JK
Wow, they just doubled up on the clicks. I gues they were getting a lot of bad feedback.
Translation: The cheque was lost in the mail and has been found...hehehe. Seriously though, has someone been fired or paid off? Only two plausible scenarios here.
and why would they pay for this no name site to only give the game an 8/10 ?! how is that is going to change any thing ?! it getting very very mixed reviews from every where we have reviews that give it 10/10 and others who give it 3/10 why they didn't they pay IGN,GT,GI,CVG,EDGE etc from the big knowen sites who give it 6-5/10 etc?! i don't see any logic in your comment
Because this is Sony...they can't afford IGN, EDGE, GI, CVG, ect. So they stuck with these low level guys and even then couldn't pay enough for a full 10. Lol no I kid, do not hurt me. Also, why are there no spacings after your commas? Lastly, it was said in jest...mostly.
so you are joking ?! you said "Seriously though" ...that mean you were serious about your question that's why i was responding to you
Like I said, mostly in jest hehehe. But I wouldn't say I trust completely that some sort of remuneration isn't involved in these cases. More importantly however, the lack of spaces, I must know right now.
Apparently nobody caught on to the fact that this "re-review" was written sarcastically and meant to be humorous. It's similar to Jim Sterling's "objective" review that he did of Final Fantasy 13 after all the complaints of the low score he gave it in his real review.
truth time? I didn't even read the review. Edit: After having read the review I take back what I said. It was ignorant. Although I must say, some that replied to my comment must have also just read the title or they wouldn't react like they did, looking at you Ezz hehehe. It seems the reviewer and I share the same views on reviews. That they are meant to be opinions and not just detached facts about the game like this mock review contains. It seems people want to only hear good things about the game and those with negative views are apparently biased.
it was indeed strange, but i don't think sony have any thing to do with it as for the lack of spaces that's how i type :P
That has to be one of the most misguided comments I've seen on here, and that's saying a lot.
@Bundi. Your stupidity is legendary. You guys were saying, Sony bought all those sites : IGN, Gamespot, and so and so... when TLOU reviews came out. Now, Sony cant afford those same sites when it's Beyond. LooL. You guys are so stupid that it's almost frightening.
Wait, were they the one's who gave this game a 2.5? LMAO!
Publisher: "We don't pay you for low review scores. Game review: "Yes, master." *Fixes review score
the power of money.
Now if only they can pay IGN to fix that 6/10 score hey? Give me a break.
yeah, sometimes i wish people here would use the power of brain but maybe i'm asking for too much
now if only websites didn't lose money when less people visit the site because they gave a low rating to a highly anticipated game..... @Ezz2013 i guess it is asking for too much based on these responses.
Yeah they paid off a website that's not on Metacritic. You sir, are a genius.
maybe if you used your head you could figure out that these sites make more money the more people that visit them, i wonder how many people visit sites that give low ratings to highly anticipated games hhhmmmmm.......
'My review exists purely to give a reasonable breakdown of what is unassailable about Beyond: Two Souls. I accomplish this by telling the majority of people what they want to hear'. Hmmmmmmmmmm...
I think people have missed that important point
THIS WENT ___________ THEIR HEADS ....wonder how long THIS will take!?!? LOL Guess reading the thing would have been too much for some.
Lol guess they didn't like the backlash. But seriously the game isn't bad at all. Nexus 7 2013
Maybe he just finished it and felt bad about the review score lol I truly wasn't a fan of the game but that last chapter and the ending really hit me. Would have like if I could play the story over in chronological order since the memories are already aligned. But yea overall the game is actually good.
It's been sort of the same way for (though I haven't finished it yet) The first hour or so I wasn't exactly sucked in like I was almost immediately with Heavy Rain - but now that I'm a few hours in I'm liking it a lot more.
Why change it? If it was the authors opinion let him have it. There is no point to a review if the author states his points, gives the score, then changes it because people disagree Its not like the game is The Last of Us or GTA 5, which (I think I can say this objectively) have very few flaws. The game has been getting polarizing reviews, this site isn't the first to give it a bad score and sites like IGN aren't the only ones giving it great scores
"My review exists purely to give a reasonable breakdown of what is unassailable about Beyond: Two Souls. I accomplish this by telling the majority of people what they want to hear."
You seriously can't compare GTA5 to TLOU or Beyond.
I didn't Read again
@HeavenlySnipes I may have read that wrong but it looks like you put GTA5 in the same category as TLOU.
I just completed the game myself. Credits are rolling as I type this. I feel.... feels. Wonderful.
it was a game that actually made me care about the characters...I actually think I had more feels in this than tlou
Checking credibility.... Error! Not Found
Finished the game and started it again. It is wonderful
I'm amazed 90% of comments here didn't even checked the new review to see it was totally hilarious. The guy is good. This is a fake good review, wake up!
"My review exists purely to give a reasonable breakdown of what is unassailable about Beyond: Two Souls. I accomplish this by telling the majority of people what they want to hear." So this was back-handed... typical hypocrites that can't have their way attempting to call out others for the same.
Are people seriously not realizing that this is just some dumb trolling in response to dumb criticism of whatever review they ran?
And here we go...
Wow, just wow... So, this is a satirical piece now? Kind of ironic this reviewer can't handle criticism and felt the need to practically insult a majority of people who called him out on writing an OPINION PIECE rather than an INFORMATIVE REVIEW. I would've held more respect for Evan Tognotti as a journalist had he just seriously applied the principles of objective criticism to his reviews rather than spewing diarrhea of the mouth and thinking readers would accept his opinions as credible. Regardless, of how you'll feel about this statement, reviews are, at their core, a persuasive piece that requires the author to hold credibility as an authority on the subject matter, with expertise, and hold a sense of trustworthiness. Those are the elements that make up credibility and help readers take what you write seriously. What Tognotti has just demonstrated is the decaying of credibility. A review informs an audience of the strengths and weaknesses of a product. It ultimately persuades them with fact to help with a purchasing decision. Is it solely the only means to help with making that decision? No, that's why there exists "quick-looks", videos, demos, renting, etc. There is no denying that a review holds a power of persuasion on those who accept you as a person with credibility that isn't influenced by bias, values, attitudes, or personal experiences. OPINION has its place in a review. Sure we want to know how you personally felt about the game to give us context or a means of comparison to what the game IS and what it IS to YOU. However, what validity do opinions hold if others don't share the same sentiment? Clearly, the reaction Tognotti received reflects the point that opinion isn't universally shared nor should it dictate the true value/worth of a product. If "Error! Not Found" wanted people to view them as a credible source and experts on the subject matter then they shouldn't have written this obvious aggressive piece to attack those who VALUE FACT over OPINION. This satirical review is extremely insulting and obviously shows the site is a joke without any sense of professionalism. Why not have a constructive piece that describes the difference between a REVIEW and an OPINION PIECE? How about not claiming to write a review and change your "reviews" into "What I thought and why it should matter to everyone"? Errornotfound.org is a site I will now personally go out of my way to never give traffic to. Well done, boys...
Hey there, I don't know if you're ever going to pay attention to this comment, but I figured I'd leave it anyway. This review is meant as a joke, yes, but it was also designed to demonstrate the systemic problems I have with the criticism everyone throws at me when I don't like a game and they do: that I should have been objective. I, personally, do not believe objectivity has any place in a review. I don't think it could. If it did, then the result would be something like what I wrote here, and that wasn't very much fun to read, was it? That being said, I would like to extend an offer to you, and one I hope you'll take me up on. I'm curious to know what your ideal "objective" review is. If you wrote one, of Beyond, or any game really, I would be happy to post it on the site and let the readers decide which style they like better. My prediction (and I may be wrong) is that if you DID write that review, it would actually be just as subjective as mine. There may be a nuance here that I'm missing, and I'd like to further this discussion, even if you think me some manner of hack or hypocrite. Sincerely hoping for an earnest reply, Evan T.
