Gameranx: "A newspaper ad seems to think that Ellen Page is in The Last of Us."
In all honesty, the first trailer I saw of the Last of Us, I thought it was based on Ellen Page, after playing the game their are some similarities but a lot different than Ellen Page in Beyond.
For a fact, the character had a much different face when the game was first revealed at the Video Game Awards. They changed Ellie's face due to the similarities it had with Ellen Page.
Well, it wasn't just because of the similarities. They also wanted Ellie to resemble her voice actress. Doesn't matter either way and I doubt it would have made a huge difference if they had left her the way she was.
The remarkable coincidence. I'm sure Naughty Dog didn't know what Ellen page looked like when first creating Ellie ;) God...even the name is so similar What a HUGE coincidence.
Ellie is a common name, as a shortening of Elizabeth - bioshock infinite came out at the same time.. Loads of games in dev at the same time seem to featurre similarly named characters. (Theres an anna in both games too..) My daughter is also called Ellie. XD The likeness early on, i think Page was an obvious influence and placeholder, but by the time the game shipped she wasn't allll that Page-ish. Especially considering that part of Page's image is based on "slightly awkward yet attractive generic brunette girl next door"
name, voice, ellie...yeah coincidence im sure
researching your ad is for losers!
When I first saw Beyond Two Souls I thought "what? ANOTHER Ellen Page game?" I didn't realise The Last Of Us just stole her likeness (until she made a fuss about it)
why the disagrees? they did steal her likeness. also SHE didnt make a fuss, she was asked how she felt about her likeness being used in the last of us and she responded.
Either they didn't read my comment properly or I'm an idiot for assuming The Last Of Us actually was Ellen Page at first. Who cares?
I played both games. If you are going to play them for the first time, play The Last of Us first then Beyond Two Souls. The games are different, but they complement each other so well. One has gameplay, while the other focuses more on simplistic controls and interactivity. One is dreary and dark, while Beyond gives you a glimpse of hope. You will come out feeling sad after finishing The Last of Us, but Beyond saves you from misery. Sometimes I wonder if this was all planned by Sony from the very beginning.
What the hell are you talking about?
thanks jc48573 I've read alot of comments on this site but your comment is a REAL "WTF" comment!! Planned by Sony? play tlou before beyond? huh?what?WUT!? good day sir, edit: I never felt sad after finishing tlou - actually it was the complete opposite!!
Yep. TLOU ending had me feeling happy.
I kind of get what your're saying. Last of Us has an emotional ending. And Beyond has a great storyline. I'm not sure what you're saying.
I think Ellie only looks like Ellen Page in screen shots. When she's in motion in the game, the resemblance disappears.
nope since the first trailer i was like oh cool ellen page the girl whos older than she looks. for people to deny the connections is just mind blowing
$500 is a ripp off, you can buy everything seperatly for cheaper.
Looking at those 2 pictures at the top, they're quite different.
then why is a subject if as you say there so different?
They're not just 'quite' different, they're 'completely' different. I certainly wouldn't want my portrait painted by anyone who thought they were identical.
In that one sure they look different https://www.google.ie/searc... She's looks like she was modeled after Ellen page, especially in the old ones. Everyone's reaction after the initial reveal was "Hey they got ellen page in the game" and for good reason
http://img.gawkerassets.com... The closest looking 2 pictures. Take note of the nose, different. Eyes, slightly different. Jaw, different. http://static.trustedreview... Looks different. Even the early build looks different to Ellen Page: http://oyster.ignimgs.com/w... It's because Ellen Page is a successful young actress that we first associated her with Ellie.
Yes, it's just an association people made and can't see passed it ... and of course you have those people who don't want to see passed it because they feel it's a 'negative' for TLOU of some sort.
