GameDynamo - It’s been known for quite a long time that a huge chunk of the gaming industry relies on the continuation
Really wierd coming from a guy who is heavily associated with a company like Ninetendo. :/
He is including Nintendo when he talks about the industry...also this is more of an effort to embrace the unique than dismiss the continued.
your point is. Not mention he only been associated with Nintendo on SSB and Kid Icarus lately.
Maybe he wants Nintendo to make new IPs?..
Hope he's still considering making a HD remake of Kid Icarus: Uprising for Wii U ^^'
oh look at who's talking!
cause theres been sooo many kirby and smash bros games this gen xD /s
It's still a continuation. On topic: I think the title is not really a reflection of the story. I don't think he was critical of continuation. “Good games attract fans, and if you have fans, you have an advantage," he wrote. "You try to use that to make the title something bigger, but that doesn't mean it's okay to give up on innovation. Popular, well-made games deserve praise, but titles that have some kind of unique creative spark to them also need to be praised in this way.” See, he's okay with it as long as you try to innovate and keep it fresh. I agree. That's why I think the next Smash Bros. iteration will be pretty damn good.
@solidjun5 Iwata made him work on Brawl and the upcoming one. He was done after Melee. He stop working Kirby when he formed his own company Sora LTD that was before Brawl.
It's funny that the director of smash brothers, a 'franchise' that capitalizes on the popularity of 'franchises' is complaining about reliance on continuation.
the odea of smash bros didn'tbbegin with Nintendo mascots. It the opposite of TW101 originally having Nintendo then revamped to something entirely new. I guess Disney milk their franchises
And how many Smash Bros games have been released since the first one, almost 15 years ago? Only three. I get your point, but it's really not as ironic as you make it out to be. If it was, say, Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision, critizicing sequels and franchises, then I'd be completely with you here.
And yet you work with the company who milks their franchises the most.
Untrue. Keeping IP's going for a long time is not synonymous with milking. Nintendo's biggest IP's get like one or two releases per console, or sometimes skip a console entirely. Much better examples of milking would be Assassin's Creed and especially Call of Duty.
One Mario kart per console Gen is not milking one smash bros per console Gen is not milking one day 2D Mario bros per Gen is not milking one 3d adventure Mario game per Gen is not milking. with the exception on galaxy 2 which was by the way a huge step up from the 1st game imo how many uncharteds were there this Gen? How many gears of war? CoD..?
Say the guy with avatar of Assasins Creed! lmao.
who ever making stupid response must forget there is one smash bros every generation.....ps3 had 3 uncharted.....
