Dramatic Games Need An Episodic Structure

Wayne is playing Beyond: Two Souls right now for his review and he can tell you right now that he is enjoying the game. But he is noticing one thing that’s been more prominent in my head as games like The Walking Dead lumbered onto the scene and made everyone take more notice of adventure games. he is getting more and more convinced that this kind of game, just like television, needs a separated, episodic structure.

I agree but it all depends on how the story is structured. Beyond Two Souls would have worked as an episodic game because of how it does a lot of jumping around from Jodie's timeline. Heavy Rain was good because that story had a more direct structure to it similar to a movie.

What do they mean by episodic? I thought episodic was revolving around the same cast but taking place in different points in time. If Anything I think QD has been doing for a while with Heavy Rain and this game; how they jump from different points in the story and then they culminate in the end

By episodic I think they mean set out kind of like a TV series? Instead of one full game release one (for example) hour-long episode each week or fortnightly
