Released in 2010, the title challenged the perceptions of what a video game could be and how a narratively fueled piece of interactive media could still succeed in the industry. Although the title was criticised for certain plot holes, it still left a good impression on the market – which has been one of the causes of the hype for Beyond: Two Souls. So does the title live up to its developers’ reputation? Or is it another new idea which will crash and burn in an industry permeated by repetitive sequels? Beyond: Two Souls is perhaps the definition of a flawed gem.
