Call of Duty: Ghosts Eminem video the epitome of mainstream acceptance

The latest music and gaming industry crossover might be a sign of global acceptance of video games, but at what cost. (Call of Duty: Ghosts, Culture, PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

so excited for CoD: Ghosts =)!!
Lukas_Japonicus  +   349d ago
Really? What about it gets you excited?

I'm not trolling, genuine question.
JimmyLmao  +   349d ago
Because...

A) it is made by Infinity Ward (^_^)
B) dedicated servers on CoD will be interesting to try (>_<)
C) most my friends are getting it =)
D) CoD is my favourite FPS <3
E) it is one of the most fast-paced shooters =D
F) it has some of the best controls out of all FPS games (i.e. smooth not clunky)
G) the new game modes look awesome, Search & Rescue is the exact game mode that i have always wanted!! =P

and yeah, the list goes on, a lot of people are actually keen for this game, but a large amount of those people aren't the type of people that go on gaming websites like this though =S

@joe90

He doesn't, when did i say he had to? That's the joy of answering a question, you don't HAVE to answer it. But he did, so all is well. :)

JimmyLmao has clearly never played Unreal Tournament, if he thinks CoD is fast.
CarlosX360  +   349d ago
Unreal Tournament is fast, but not a lot of people "like" twitchy games. I like it, it's just that the franchise died with Midway.

As a huge fan of Marshall, I don't really approve this type of "sell-out". It happened before with Black Ops as well.. I Just don't think this is him come on

We're talking about the guy who did Infinite and MMLP.. Come on..

He sold out a loooooong time ago friend. Infinite was brilliant, so was MMLP.
Drakesfortune  +   349d ago
Infinite is my favourite Eminem song...also the album is brilliant along with MMLP and Eminem Show however went downhill from there.

Activision coulda spent the millions they did on Eminem, say on a truly new engine..

Innovation anyone?

and Joe, he asked a simple question because some of us are wondering how many times your going to take the same old Activision cock down the throat before you start demanding innovation and investment for the franchise you COD kids would seemingly die for?

COD to me is exactly like the iPhone.. I believe most have to have it solely based on the fact that everyone else has to have it.. The majority always has and always will follow the crowd, without so much as an individual thought.. it's sad

CoD usually recycles the old formula, but the last two years are different.

Last year's version was on a new engine as crappy as it was. The Wii U version had amazing gamepad support. This year's version is another new engine...and yes it should have been better.

So I agree fully that up through 2011 you had a point. That 2014 and beyond you again might have a point. But 2012 and 2013 they actually did some big changes. Of course their effect was underwhelming for 2012 and it's appearing to be the same here for 2013.

Hopefully they push the bar up again next year once they get their feet wet with the new consoles.

So at some point they'll revert back to cookie cutter, same game, with 12 or so new maps. But the last year and this year isn't like that. So enjoy the innovation...because it probably won't last.

Cod has not hasn't had a new engine. It's still the Quake engine with their own modifications.

Gaming has been mainstream for a long time, longer than Eminem has been making music.

This article is poorly written and the topic is of no consequence.

Also, Call of Duty's yearly sales figures have indicated mainstream acceptance of voilet cut n' paste shooters for years now.

After all, things that aren't accepted by the "mainstream" don't break sales records like CoD.
CarlosX360  +   349d ago
You miss the entire point of "mainstream acceptance" yes, Call of Duty has been mainstream, but not everyone accepts Call of Duty as mainstream, and inherently video games itself.

The video just shows that video games and call of duty can get a wider audience than it has been for years.
Welcome2Die  +   348d ago
The only thing that would make this not so mainstream is if he raps about 360 quick scoping his ex wife Kim lol...
FunkMacNasty  +   348d ago
I dunno man, It doesn't get much more mainstream than a 360 no-scope ;-) Every 5th grader in the world knows that move

I LoL when people try to do stuff like that in BF3.... only to get sniped by someone shooting out the side doors of a helicopter
